The RPG part just refers to role playing. Everything else that defines MMO is not something which becomes less relevant only because you attach shooter to it.

So what ever features he thinks are lacking in Defiance as a MMO shouldn't be just shrugged off only because it is not an MMORPG.

This is like the people who insist that selling lockboxes in the store (as well as ingame for non-RMT currency) is pay 2 win because you can pay and then get something good which may help you win.


If people don't know what a phrase means they should not simply think "I know what each word means so a literal interpretation must be correct!"


By the same logic no games are free to play because I have to buy a PC, electricity, a phone line, pay my ISP, etc, etc. Just looking at the meaning of each individual word is not how it works.

Every MMO you play you are assuming the role of whatever character you play. So on basis of that even Defiance is an RPG. Since you are assuming a role of Ark Hunter and there is plenty of lore and back ground story which justifies your actions.

It is just semantics. Trion decides to call their game a MMO shooter but doesn't mean it is any less of a MMORPG.

Although i don't know why we are discussing 'pay to win' and why you are so angry!

Interesting ,.. i don't force anyone to read it and yes i paid 60 Euro to play ,..for a game that isn't even worth 30.
and no its not start-up problems half the people will never get there promised content ,things that where fine go haywire after they implement a patch to solve bugs ,..come on this is going to take ages and they know it .

There's plenty other games out there to play, OP.

Defiance is a B2P game, thats the beauty of it. You can walk away for a few months while they add more content and polish further what already is there, and then pick it up later when all your concerns have been dealt with.

sure this game has its bugs, what mmo doesnt with release? the fact is its an epic game, with an awesome back story and universe some just wont appreciate what this game offers because its not MW3...
