So I beat the game a few days ago and I decided to see what everyone else thought about the ending, specifically the cliffhanger right at the the end. The Ark Core powering up after being "burnt out", Von Bach waking up on the beach, his eyes glow like they did when he was holding the core and when he shot at Nim.
I don't know about anyone else, but I think he's going to be the next "villian". The core obviously has some sort of control over him, most likely through his ego implants. (if he doesn't have any, sorry, but I doubt he doesn't) and we also know that the core is an AI, so it can operate on its own.
The way I see something like this playing out, is as somewhat of a secret to the ark hunter. (well everyone) as in, whatever forces they have will be attacking people (but obviously everyone thinks Von Bach is dead.). Which will most likely incorporate the scrappers as the main enemy force, because of them being machines easy to control, (the ark hunter did it, I'm sure an advanced AI could) as well as possible Dark Matter forces, now leaderless, they would probably be fairly easy to control, or even "assimilate".
I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds from here.
