Just minutes later....
Just going to say that people often respond in kind. If it reads like a rant, you're probably going to get QQ responses. Coupled with an initial **** type response before your gripes definitely doesn't help.
A bit of an exaggeration. There are plenty of games which have way more bugs. This in no way justifies the bugs, but I want you to realize that it should change the context a bit. MMOs traditionally are HORRIBLE at launch. In fact, I've yet to play one that hasn't been plagued with all sorts of problems. I'll revisit this point in a moment.Over the last few days I have been raging because, as you all know, the game is extremely bugged. I expect every game I play to have some bugs, they are to be expected, BUT THIS IS A JOKE!
Every aspect of this game is bugged in one way or another.
Changing mods, and disappearing items is an issue. I haven't seen any case of differing amounts of damage "each day" unless you count the nerf to the sawed off. If you do, from a balancing perspective when you have people recommending that you primary one specific weapon or item type... it's a problem. Everything should have its own use or playstyle, but not dominate all the others.WEAPONS - Change mods randomly, reload twice on EGO discharge, do different amounts of damage every day, change appearance irregularly and many combinations of these annoyances.
Both valid concerns. The models glitching is an issue, but not everyone is experiencing it. Vehicles blowing up after running over a couple of people... yeah I can agree to an extent. If you're constantly ramming a tanker, sure it makes sense to blow up after a while. If you're constantly running over skitterlings or regular mutants 99ers etc, the worst that should happen is reduced max speed to represent destroying your engine... but your vehicle shouldn't blow up - and if it does, well, shouldn't the guy you ran over (who blew you up) also be blown to bits considering he was the source of the explosion?VEHICLES - Wheels decide to dissapear while driving, stats reset after hours of progress, blow up after running over two people? ( I know this was changed with the patch but whoever came up with that idea doesn't deserve to play the game. )
Cloak being OP is perspective. You can cloak if you want, but you can still be seen in some instances. Overcharge wrecks house. Shotguns being OP, also perspective. Some people claim the nerf removed their usefulness. It can't be both OP and useless at the same time. I think opinion on this one is based entirely on what people expect it to do... not what it actually does.PvP - Stats do not register for pursuits and reset every game ( an easy fix ), spawning system is diabolical, shotguns are extremely overpowered, cloak is overpowered, pursuits appear for maps that are not available, hackers have penetrated the hackshield already and last but not least, winning a shadow war results in a loss and vice versa. <--- not fixing this is just lazy.
Additionally, loss = win, win = loss isn't an issue that affects everyone. Therefore it not being corrected isn't a sign of laziness. Its a sign that either people haven't submitted bug reports containing the steps required to replicate the issue, or if they have (and don't just claim that they have on the forums), then it's a sign that the issue is more complicated than just a line or two of code. Coding issues can be complex sometimes, and their causes aren't always apparent.
Again, it's not consistent. Additionally, every single mission issue is a separate bug fix. In order to fix all of them, the bug has to be located in the code for each mission. It takes time. They will be fixed, but the majority of them ARE working.MISSIONS - Players are sometimes not able to interact wth objectives, players can often complete the mission without the completion registering, cut scenes frequently bug out, subtitles do the same.
Again, these issues don't affect everyone, and therefore require more time and work to fix.ADDITIONAL PURSUITS - Data recorders are often bugged out or invisible, pursuits that involve killing enemies in certain areas just don't work for some players ( like todays radio tower pursuit ), as stated before CAPTURE AND HOLD IS NOT IN THE GAME TRION!!
Capture and hold being left out isn't a problem or a sign of bad game design. It is what it is... and has nothing to do with whether or not the game is worth buying... unless you're a capture and hold fanatic. If there are enough people who want it, I have no doubt it will be added.
It's different, but it works... unless you're talking about the forumsSOCIAl - Enough said.
We are? I thought the standard process is Dev gets salary, works on game. Profits from game go to reimburse publisher/investor(s) to cover all of the advances they gave to the developers to pay for development.WE ARE PAYING YOUR WAGES, GET A GRIP!
This is one reason why games are not pristine. You have been paid to have a product by such and such date. If anything at all happens which causes a delay one of a few things happens.
1. Developers crunch and work 20+ hour days 7 days a week until release. It could be a month, it could be six months. It all depends on who you work for. This causes more mistakes as employees are overworked, and haven't had enough sleep.
2. The game is released as is, with the intention to fix things as soon as possible. This option is still preferable to...
3. The game is cancelled since it is not able to be released in it's current state, and neither the publisher or development studio is willing/able to pay for any work beyond the agreed upon milestone.
Developers who have worked for extended periods of time on software aren't allowed to enjoy their creation??Today I watched a live stream of a Trion employee playing the game and having the time of his life, makes my blood boil knowing i've paid for this.
If the developers aren't free until everyone is happy, they would be stuck in a state of constant development until the day they die. People aren't ever happy and constantly want more. A dev taking some time to blow some steam off isn't a huge deal. In fact, they're more likely to produce quality work when you allow them to do so. Staring at code or art assets for months on end sucks. Now consider the fact they have been doing so for years.
This game compares to PoE how? There have been constant updates since launch. We are a couple of weeks in, I think its far to early to complain about new content not having been added yet. IF you rush through, YOU chose to do so. Just like PoE, you can run around and do other things if you choose to. The problem is here, people would rather complain than socialize or find new things to do.A perfect example of how a dev team should be is Path of Exile.
18 ****ING people update this game with meaningful content, frequently.
I haven't seen a focus on trying to convince everyone that they have to buy things. In fact, they aren't in your face about it at all. Unfortunately anytime a game gives players the option of buying any sort of optional content, it's seen as a cash grab. I hate to break it to you though, but there are three options here.Pull your finger out Trion...Stop updating the game with outfits and purchasable crap and start changing this game for the better.
Are you no better than the other money grabbing, idiotic, ignorant developers out there?
People pay for boosts and outfits, we pay monthly subscriptions, or we get to look at a crap load of ads every time we log into the game (or every time we pull a menu up).
Without one of those methods, the costs of running the servers will eventually bleed all of the sales money dry and the game goes offline permanently. Pick one of the three. I can tell you already what most people would prefer.
Then you should already understand why we've had constant updates, and why we will continue to have them...I know how a game is launched and who is in charge of what...
I have personally experienced every bug I have mentioned.
but this really contradicts your statement of understanding anything about the game development process.I do not care who is working on bugs and who isn't anyway, I have played free games with teams who actively fix things that need fixing. That is the service you paid for and are not recieving.
Of course they are working on it, it's their ***** on the line.
If you have played a game and had a programmer fix a bug for you on the spot, it is likely a very small game (both in scope and number of players). When any change to code has the potential to affect every single player on the game, not only do you need to locate the bug (which as I mentioned already can be difficult at times), but you also need ensure that it doesn't break the game in other unforeseen ways.
To give you better understanding, I was recently writing a security auditing tool in C. As I continue to add to the code, I compile, and run it to ensure it's working correctly. I had no issues until I introduced a function to split processes and copy command output into memory. After adding the function, I began to get constant segmentation faults and the program refused to work. After spending around eight hours of removing, and rewriting the new function, I finally determined that the fault was not in the new function, but in code that compiled and ran correctly initially. Eight hours looking for a bug that was present but unapparent all along...
Consider the fact that there are a lot of bugs that need to be fixed. Not all of those bug fixes will be apparent. These things take time and will be addressed, but quite honestly, I find a lot more things in the game are working than are broken. Maybe it's all really just a matter of glass half-empty vs half-full?
Or maybe we all just like to be upset?
Again I never said they lied
I'm just stating that they need to do better as many people are getting pissed off.
I'm sure that many of us playing would have gone back to what we were playing or gone off to another game that we bought a few weeks ago, if it wasn't for our clans and the people we play with.
I personally want the game to work and do well and there much to improve on, but Trion needs to understand that they only have so much time before people start to finally give up and leave.
try playing a PvP match without blatant hacks. perm-invised characters, single shot killer infectors, shields you cant put a dent in... dont get me wrong. i'm a really bad PvP player. twitch games drive me up a greased wall. PvP WAS fun. not anymore.
@doowi seriously dude. i told you to stop pasting my photo on the interwebz
there are two kinds of people in this world. those with short attention spans
My tires have never disappeared and the fact this is happening to just you is rather hilarious. It just seems like Defiance is Defying you from even playing it and is trying to get you to quit. I have experienced two bugs in my entire time of playing. One was when a hellbug jumped on me when I was in a roller. It shot me off like a rocket and made me laugh my *** off. The Second was a tree that was tilted to the side and had no bottom but I will share a little screenshot I took of a guildie. Was hilarious, he thought so too!.

"Decisions are left to those that are willing to be lost in thought."
This is correct for me.
My only two major things so far have been:
1. Hotshot Dam Defence. This was not on the map when I got around to doing it and was a bit annoyed as it was keeping me from 45 EGO. 40 EGO for the zone completion and 5 EGO for the pursuit completion.
I just did the many other things available until it was back on.
Fixed after patch and it took two attempts to complete.
2. I still cannot get into Commander Cronkhite.
This has not stopped me from doing Co-op and I have completed all the others for the 15EGO.
I also had a few timing issues on the Time Trials and Co-op pursuits but in time after a few attempts here or there and after latest patch I completed these as well.
There are plenty of things to do, the ones that aren't working for you either try to work around them or move on until they are fixed.
I am still yet to hear of a complete game breaking bug in regards to the main storyline or character development.
ZOMG 25+ years and STILL BUGGED.
Refund plz
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.
