Why is there such an aggressive in-game profanity filter and no way to turn it off?

We can't even say the fan and livestream favorite colloquial "poop shoes" (refers to the big balls of goop on your feet from arches and pods) in-game. Can't say damn and a slew of other expletives.

Any plans on adding a way to turn off the profanity filter? Rift has the option to do so and it's rated T for Teen, why not Defiance, which is Rated M.

What the OP said. I have no desire to traipse through the fields shouting Fbombs and slurs, but I'd like to be able to type 'analagous' in my RP without it showing up as '****agous'. True story.

The profanity filter is silly as it stands. I would love to know what the rationale behind it existing without an on/off option is (because knowing the reasons might make it more palatable to me), but the bottom line is that if I can shoot someone's head off and see a geyser of blood, a la Kill Bill, spout madly from the gaping wound of the neck, I'd really love to be able to say 'goddamm!t' like various prominent NPCs do.

Clearly some of us do. It doesn't make the other concerns less. It just means someone else already stated the problems and there's no need to start another thread.

It also doesn't mean our concerns are invalid - it means there's one more problem being mentioned in the hopes it will be fixed.
