To assist or not to assist that is the question

What is everyone'e feeling on unsolicited assistance (irritating or welcomed)?

I have been playing Defiance for the last two weeks and have assisted, other Ark Hunters with skirmishes or fights, with zero to little interaction except the emotes standard phrases with other players, not totally happy about it but it was acceptable until the VoIP was fixed. Now that the VoIP is fixed I wish it was broken again, my mute and unmute do not work and I now have to listen to the "self centered this is my territory and my mission and you can't help" a** clowns.

The biggest reason I bought this game was for the social piece of it. I enjoy tooling around the Bay area, in the process of completing my own pursuits, and if I see a fellow Ark Hunter in a skirmish or fight with whatever it may be I feel obligated to assist. Only because I feel it is the right thing to do and would like the help as well, especially when there are twenty 99ers coming at me and there is nowhere to hide.

I thought I was being helpful but after today and two encounters with fellow Ark Hunters it seems like it is not acceptable or wanted unless you are in their clan or party.

i also try to help if i can. I never have a problem if someone assists me in a fight. Especially when i'm fighting a hulker or something rather big, and i'm being shot at by a bunch of other enemies. The help is always welcome. My voice chat is not working, so i can't hear if someone is complaining about me helping them or not. Oh well, i may never know

Sorry you've come across those types. I've never had an issue with people helping me with mission or other objectives. Nor have the people I hang around with. Keep up trying, you're sure to find those that are like minded.

I don't see why they would get mad. When someone comes in to help me, I don't mind it at all. Two sets of hands are always better then one. I also try to help out others too when I see the opportunity.

I personally welcome assistance, this is a social game after all. Also now chat is working (Mine seems fully functional) it gives me chance to thank helpers, or ask if people want help.

truthfully i dont mind the help if it looks like im getting my butt handed to me. otherwise id rather solo most of the stuff i do.
That silence you hear is after I've emptied my rifle clip.

yup I tend to stop and help out people as I pass, sometimes because I just want xp other times cus I genuinely want to help but yeah there's rarely any interaction after wards. I'm not looking for a thanks your awesome for helping and possibly saving me scrip from not having to spawn after dieing twice heh. It's not like we are taking that much from them in terms of xp or loot wise is it? But screw them it's a free world I will help whether they like it or not.

I hate people invading my area, most are to low level to do jack about it anyways, causing more problems than help. so if this happens I leave my mission area and just wait for the kiddies to get done so i can get it done without having to worry if that lvl ( usually well under 500 ) is in need of constant reviving, makes it hard , so i leave them laying an go on my way so they cannot fubar my mission or side quest.

Yeah and I will also try to thank anyone that stops to help me if it was in purpose or not. I welcome the interaction, it's what this game is about I think any way.
