Auction House will stimulate social aspect of this game

If you implement the Auction House, it will jump-start the social aspect of this game. People will now have a purpose of grinding or farming items, and instead of salvaging or selling to NPC, they can sell at Auction House.

This will create a new dimension in the game, and will help those who are already bored and ran out of things to do. This will create a new goal for people who were born merchant-minded. We can sell, we can buy, and we can play the market.

This will give an incentive for you to log-in the game. To put things up for sale. To see if things have sold. Many times before in other MMOs, I have logged in for 5 minutes to put things up for sale, before going to work. It's just a whole new world to do in game, and will make the game feel more alive.

What do you think about this?

General chat... Also what is the point of an AH when half the Synergy Mods are missing.

No it won't. An auction house as the MMO world sees it is a nearly automated function. The players don't interact with one another, they interact with a menu.

Furthermore, farming for items takes away even more socialization due to the fact that the people that are doing it to make a profit don't want other players to know their favorite spots or to inadvertently horn in on "their" territory.

how in the hell does an auctionhouse stimulate community involvement? it's a vendor
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

I think he means like watering hole aspect. Everyone at the AH will talk gathering spot. They just need a general chat, LFG chat and stuff like that. Baby steps of becoming social.

What you're talking about is a social hub, not just an auction house. And I believe the developers have already shot down that idea.

They pretty much said no on all fronts of AH and other socializing things akin to it in alpha. Crafting and the like too arent even on the planning board of consideration.

Given they ignored alpha's telling them to add push to talk to the voip and, well.... They're really not interested in building community or socialization in the game, they just want you to "pay to pew pew" and thats about it at this point.

I do support the idea of a hub, a town, a city. Where people can rest and take off their shoes and holster their guns. A safe zone like inside Defiance.

Which makes me sad since gunsmithing and vehicle modifications would have been killer things to add as player activities.

Why? What makes MMO strong is its social foundation, and without this foundation, there won't be community to build upon, if there is no community, no players feel they have any roots in this game, without roots, they won't stay.

This is why many MMOs that provide housing for players help those players "develop roots" with the game. They're more willing to continue to log on. They're more willing to stay, because they feel they live there. They have a house. they can decorate the house. They have friends. They have social gatherings and guild meetings.

Without this community you have no MMO. All you have is multiplayer game.
