A good game isnt about what other ppl think its about what >YOU< think it could be the worst rated game of all time and if you play it and completely enjoy it and have fun who cares
So I should buy every game that interests me and not look at reviews? I have a good income, but I couldn't afford that.(Can't rent PC games.) However, over the years I have found a couple reviewers whose opinions usually match mine (Tom Chick being one, some folks at Eurogamer being others). I don't consider reviews at IGN or Gamespot when it comes to purchase decisions.
5.9 strikes me as too low, but I'd probably not go over 7.0 at the moment either. Sure, I'm having fun, but the game has plenty of flaws and poor design choices, communication isn't great, the social aspects are in their infancy, PvP lacks competitive elements, and I've not seen something as cumbersome as the Salvage Matrix in many years. No auction house, no bank, limited inventory space so that you buy the upgrades from the cash store, unoriginal side quests that mostly follow the same pattern, and so on. Can't really ignore those aspects if you objectively review a game.
i have been playing MUD's and MMORPG's since 1993 and I don't approach any new title with preconceived notions. I dont pretend to assume that raiding in wildstar will be like the 37 hour Jotunheim Invasion rareload event i did on Toril in 1997. I don't pretend to assume that mmorpg's will continue to adhere to the EQ, DAOC or even WoW formulas now especially after the success of GW2 and the rebound that SWTOR had after going f2p.
any journalist with integrity would have at least gleaned the info on the wiki about the back story of the game before doing their first commentary with gameplay on a new title. i guess in the age of tea party extremism and fox "entertainment" news integrity is no longer required.
Whether you want to admit it or not, IGN reviews will probably take a toll on the sales of this. This is bad news guys.
Even IGN gets it right some time. Face it, Defiance is one of the most half baked games to come out in a while. I think if people realized what they would actually be getting it wouldn't have sold well at all.
Why does Defiance deserve a better score? It is mediocre in every possible way.
Honestly, no one worth playing with takes ign reviews serious. Not to mention almost no one reads one single review, from the most disliked review site on the web and makes a decision.
This is true somewhat, but this is a case of the sum is better than the parts.
3 X360 DEFIANCE 173,399
8 PS3 DEFIANCE 65,174
10 PC DEFIANCE 53,551
This was April 06 Chart. What is bad news exactly?
"Decisions are left to those that are willing to be lost in thought."
Out of curiosity. Is there a way to see all the games an IGN reviewer has reviewed? Like a list somewhere?
