i'm guessing you missed out on launch week of sto and age of conan?

because i seem to remember a 80-level scale game with 1 milion box copies pre-ordered in 2007 with gear that was completely statless. a dagger at level 1 had the same stats as level 80, but the actual game content was balanced around gear having a scaling stat system that OOOP!!! someone forgot to turn that part on!! well, we'll get to it eventually...

i seem to remember a game based on a popular and beloved scifi movie trilogy launching in 2003 and nobody being able to log in at all the first 2 days, then people logging in and being extremely disgusted at how the lore was butchered. at how everyone had to walk. at how you could macro your way to success. at how you could knock a rancor down with your fists and how they refused to let us forget about the abomination that was the universally-panned teras kasi game.

i could do this for many pages. although i miss many of the old mmorpgs i do not wear rose colored glasses. hell i turn bloom off in games because it makes me think my glasses are dirty and i habitually try to clean them every few minutes. defiance is lacking content. defiance had issues on the 360 but what game with massive multplayer doesn't on a system with only 96mb of total system ram.

    don't get all extremist now.

Beyond a few parts that are frustrating in terms of number of enemies that spawn in some missions prompting death after death as you simply turtle through. I am not sure that I understand all the hate.

As to the other comment about my previous post. I don't buy every game out there either. If it interests me enough I am going to pick it up and judge for myself if it was worth it. Just like UT III with how bad it was on XBL I kept for nearly 2 years because in moments of absolute boredom it was fun to mercilessly kill bots.

This game cost me more than bioshock infinite....

This game should not have been rushed to coincide with the tv show and been given more time. It looks worse than a mediocre beta
why are you even comparing it to bioshock infinite?

but if you want to compare, i only got 15 hours of total playtime before i did 100% completion with infinite. i'm at nearly 100 hours in defiance and NOWHERE near that. so...i feel as if i got my 60 bucks worth.

is it a perfect game? no. do i make facetious anecdotes comparing it to games not even in the same genre? no.

Perhaps. Still, I don't see how anyone can be outraged with 6/10. Opinions vary but did they want to see a 9 or something? Maybe in a year...even then I don't know. So many aspects of this game are so disappointing, namely playing with other people and it was supposed to be an mmo. It has broken chat, no social aspects at all really, no group content that presents a challenge and Arkfalls are so basic they are almost instantly stale.

I'd give it a 4/10 personally because it didn't really deliver on it's premise of being a tpsmmo. The mmo aspects are simply bad.

Do not bring up AoC because it had 10x the content and diversity compared to Defiance. It also has better graphics. Yet it tanked big time and is on my list of most disappointing MMOs ever.

So ya, fan bois race in to defend the game when universally Defiance is getting pretty much the same scores across the board.

As a side note, BRINK got better score than this lol and that says something.

What does any of this have to do with Defiance being a mediocre game?

AoC had massive issues at launch, I pre-ordered and it was the only game I have ever done so and regretted heavily. How about the fact the game ran terrible on many top-end (then) computers? How about the fact that even though there was massive amounts of content, there was no reason to do almost any of it? How about the fact that until months later, the pvp servers were an absolute joke. I can go on if needed.

I've put nearly 90 hours into Defiance so far... I'm starting to feel the repetition now, but 90 hours is pretty good value for what I spent. Here's hoping the game can evolve into something better.
aye. i only got 90 hours out of borderlands 2. 60 hours out of skyrim!

i got 300 hours out of planetside 2 though before i got sick of the faction population balance issues though. i'm not one for shooters, that' was an outlier for me. i got 200 hours out of mass effect 3 with no time spent in multiplayer outside of what was needed to get war assets up for each of my "perfect" playthroughs.

i'm bored of defiance right now, but i always put things into perspective. it took me almost 100 hours to finish all of the main story and side missions without rushing. it took me about 70 hours to get my first character in the secret world to ql10 and all story/side missions finished. my first 80 in gw2 took 79 hours. shrug. not only do i no longer anticipate long levelling grinds in mmorpg's anymore, i no longer expect that much content at launch. not in the dlc age.

Even though that is a really low score the writer has a point everything he mention that was wrong is what many players complain about in this game.
