If Defiance can be compared to any other game of its kind that would be APB. And APB doesnt even have ANY PvE content. Taking Defiance for what it does good would net an 8.5 score in my books. But too many people focus on the negatives.

Defiance is about running around shooting stuff. And it does that VERY well.
That was kind of my point way back in the thread, and what seems so ridiculous about it. He is comparing it to RPGs, he expects it to be identical to other RPGs he liked (WoW and SWTOR), but the game is not an RPG. Its a shooter with some RPG elements thrown in. Then he proceeds to complain about those elements, things which are standard in any MMO, including his favorites, like kill & fetch quests.

To make it even worse, he makes that complaint about the side missions & emergencies, yet at the same time talks about how much he enjoyed the main story and co-op missions. Hell I could be wrong, I doubt that I am, but I dont remember every single quest in WoW or SWTOR being wrapped in well done story, especially WoW, at least SWTOR did a bit better in that aspect. Oh, but Defiance didnt do that. Shame on Defiance.

I also found this pretty damn funny: "The absolute worst was when I hit a bugged one and had to abort and restart it in order to complete it (this occurred on PC, but as it and the PS3 version are so similar in content and the bugs are seemingly random we can’t rule out that it could happen here too"

"The absolute worst was when I hit a bugged one and had to abort and restart it in order to complete it (this occurred on PC, but as it and the 360 version are so similar in content and the bugs are seemingly random we can’t rule out that it could happen here too)."

So... this is how reviews are being done. "Im playing on and doing a review for a different platform than the one I experienced a bugon, but Im going to go ahead and point out this bug (which I never even experienced in this version)"

So I guess we should expect to see that in any game? "Oh hey, its the same game, same content, so yeah sure lets just throw in bugs that may or may not exist. I havent actually experienced this bug, but lets just say it happened anyway."

Hell, Dark Souls PC port had a lot of bugs & performance / FPS issues. Well, wtf then. Lets just go ahead and say the console version might have too, even though I didnt see any of those issues when I played it on console!

    Just idiotic.

BTW: Im not denying there have been bugs on any system or anything like that. Just pointing out how "legit" his reporting is with the whole "I dont know if this issue exists or not, but lets pretend it might and bring it up anyway" attitude. Shouldnt you be sticking to ACTUAL problems you have encountered, not made up things that you cannot confirm even happen?

TBH the entire thing really reeks of him perhaps playing the PC version, but neither the XBOX or PS3 version, simply copy and pasting the same review for all 3 versions, and then changing up a couple of sentences to match something he might have read on a forum somewhere about issues with each version.

    Agreed but,...

True, but he didn't say they didn't. He merely implied that IGN would not likely have followed suit had they received proper finial motivation. It isn't beyond the realm of reason and I think it has a high probability.

Unrelated to that post, I would like to say that I've played a little over a hundred hours now. Finished the story, which was engaging but poorly acted. I have done all the co-op maps several times, which get extremely repetitive. Likewise with the Arkfall events, although at least you have more people to compete with for damage done and kills etc. The contracts and Episode achievements are interesting and many are very difficult to complete, but there isn't much incentive to complete those apart from a little reputation and possibly an ingame title/outfit. Where the game shines most is in the pvp, but sadly I am not a pvper, so it holds little for me but has a lot of potential. All the pvp is done in the open world, but you are phased there once the requisite number of people have joined the queue. There are two game types; small scale(6v6, 8v8) TDM matches and large scale(64v64) capture 'n hold matches. Personally, i think they tried to incorporate too much. If they wanted pvp they should have their focus on pvp with pve as a thing to kill time between pvp matches. if the goal is stellar pve, then scrap the pvp and focus on what pertains most to pve. Trying to appeal to everyone is a foolish business decision with no longevity. A product of greedy hearts and simple minds.

I just hope they refine it into something worth continuing to play. As it is, the most entertaining portal into this world is the TV show, with the game being little more than a gimmick.

Post after post after post bashing on IGN to discredit the score they gave the game on their review. THERE ARE 20-30 OTHER SITES WITH REVIEWS ONLINE THAT ARE GIVING THE SAME SCORES!!!!!!!!
