Check out the PC Clans section. Clans generally make any game enjoyable depending on whatever quality traits interest you. Also join a clan using a VOIP since in game chat system is buggy.
Are we all bored already?
This is my take on the whole issue:
Is it just me or is anyone else just pissed the hell off that (big) gaming companies can just feed the gaming community with misleading information and then “get” us to buy a sub par piece of garbage?? SWTOR, TERA Online, TSW, GW2, etc… Something REALLY needs to be done already. I think the main problem is the fact that these gaming companies are just not held accountable for these practices – not regulated by Congress or any other countries’ legislative bodies like other industries are. Perhaps it’s time that we, the gaming community, start speaking up and demanding excellence and not accepting garbage. Why should we drop $60 for a piece of halfassed crap? It just seems to me that the current trend is for large gaming companies to crap out garbage, supply misinformation in their advertising and then when we get excited and “open it up,” we accept it and explain it away as, “oh, it was just released.” Or “Oh, well, there are a few bugs but it’s ok, they’re ‘working’ on it.” That’s why there is a “closed beta” as part of the SDLF (Software Development Life Cycle) to iron out this stuff. I have a Masters in Information Security and if anyone tried to pass off software without going through the proper testing, they would be out of work faster than a Quantum computation.
But these are my thoughts on this issue and I’m sure there are other ppl just as “annoyed,” to say the least, about this. Even fanbois will grow tired after defending the company that they love and see they receive no love in return….
I am not sure what is up with pursuits, I tried to do time trials, but can't understand how someone did a 2 lap time trail in like 2 minutes when it took me two minutes going full speed for 1 lap. Something is wrong somewhere.
Maybe its because it is extremely repetitive?
It does not matter that the EGO cap is 5000 when to get there , you have to do the same exact filler garbage the whole time.
I'm sick of people saying "how can you get bored? how can you say you feel you did everything.. there is tons to do?
It doesn't matter how many missions/side quests/ark falls etc you do when it still boils down to 3 things:
*Drive here.
*Shoot this.
*Hold E.
Most MMOrpg's have repetitive elements to them, but they are also riddled with depth to keep players engaged.
I question how many people comment on how awesome this game is with how many real MMO's they have played (i hope most are coming from console players, but since this is in the PC section..)
I also am amazed that people are FLOORED that this game is being received unfavorably by game sites that reviewed it... really guys?
The EGO 5000 cap is a joke when they put no incentive for people to actually want to climb for it.
This game puts on a good "show" but its mostly all fluff and underneath its really quite shallow.
Dont bother running, you will only die tired.
Agree with most things stated above... so it isn't just you.

Anybody else just not interested in doing the time trials? They are a cute add-on to change it up, but they aren't really fun. (just opinion) Maybe because I love me some Mario Cart. Not saying they are bad, but they are the one thing I have left in the game that I just don't want to do. Heheh.. it is the only thing missing for most of my pursuits. :P
But yeah... the rewards aren't cool enough for me to grind through pursuits.
**lol** It would be cool if they just put a random point on the map and just said "GO!". No route, no easy path. Just you and your vehicle of your choice.
But yeah... like the original poster.. hop in for a bit, snipe.. maybe an arcfall.. then bored.
So... how much variance can you really have in a shooter? Just a question, but pretty much EVERY shooter whether TPS or FPS consists of 1. Travel to location 2. Shoot any hostiles 3. Interact/pick up object/collect loot from corpses 4. Return for reward/proceed to next objective.
That pretty much sums everything up in one brief description.
I'm bothered by the entire state of game reviews. I enjoyed Colonial Marines as a huge fan of the original Aliens movies. It got bad reviews, and among some of the things cited were the equipment in the game (it looked outdated!), and corporate thugs being brought in. Both were either in the original movies, or mentioned. As such, it felt true to the original movies. Comparisons were made to AvP (which is a completely different franchise).
Defiance reviews are no different.
Even a lot of hardcore Starwars fanboys quit SWTOR due to the horribly mismanaged experience it provided. First six months resulted in server counts ending up around 10! Per faction! Not to mention the fact that server merges weren't provided until after the majority of the servers were completely barren. I feel his statement was nothing more than an attempt to name drop, and he didn't play it as much as he implies."Where did the day go?" sort of experience I had when I started out my adventures in World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic
Like every single alliance and imperial character completing the same exact quests over and over in SWTOR?dullest and most repetitious quest design I’ve experienced in an MMO
Not objective at all. He doesn't mention the potential imbalance present by having a shooter feature leveling (such as in Borderlands). What happens when you run a mission with that guy who plays way more than you do? You just power through the content and miss out on the experience. Not the case here.Defiance's substitute for the traditional leveling system, and though its numbers go into the thousands instead of capping at the usual 50 or 60, it bothered me that I never felt substantially more powerful as I progressed.
I suppose though that feeling like a god is what everyone expects in multiplayer games now.
There are problems to be sure, and not everything is optimal. However, I don't think it justifies a 5.9 by any means.
The IGN reviewer's thoughts on D3?
Hell, Diablo 3 has been plagued with problems since launch. The community is still pissed that over a year after launch, many of the things that have been requested, and they have been told would be fixed haven't been touched.Twelve long years of waiting and fans are finally playing Diablo III, and, if my recent marathon sessions are any indication, they will be for the foreseeable future. So many systems from previous Diablo titles have been improved, making for an approachable, rewarding and deeply satisfying treasure hunting game. It's addictive on a level few games can match, so much so that it's easy to largely overlook its flaws. Sure, if you want you could really nitpick Diablo III’s design, but ultimately any minor grievances seem so trivial when compared to the enjoyment I had and will continue to have with Diablo III for years to come.
There is absolutely no itemization. In comparison, in this game there aren't many differences, but synergies and mods do slightly change things. People don't use the exact same gear. Diablo 3? If you aren't using the exact same gear and skill setup as other characters you are doomed to failure on higher MP. Diablos quests are bland, poorly thought out, and a large part of the community has a major issue with them.
The community is paid constant lip service "we will address these issues... 'SOON.'" There are STILL coding issues which cause hardcore characters to die when engaging the half-assed PvP. Should your toon die as a result of the bug, they are not restored.
Even worse still, A LOT of the features that were asked for on PC were instead applied to consoles... and neglected on the PC.
So... " it's easy to largely overlook its flaws..." and give it a 9.5, despite a large portion of the game being broken and not working as intended for over a year... having a virtually non-existent economy, and a loot-hunting game which requires all players to vendor 99% of their items and buy all of their gear off an auction hall rather than hunting for the loot.
Maybe it's just me, but while there are flaws, it is completely obvious that these reviews are at least garbage, if not outright paid for. I mean seriously... the same guy justified a 9.5 on a game that has worse problems.
That is what floors me. It's completely obvious that he knew what to write before he really played anything... and yet there are people who still rely on IGN to tell them what is good and what isn't. People need to learn to think for themselves.
To me, this game is just different. I for one cried for the lack of content in alpha and was really, until the end, on the fence to buy it.
I finally did it for that very reason : it's different. Of course, it seems like your typical MMO at first sight but there are a few things interesting :
* Ad hoc grouping. Finally got rid of that LFG fest. Even a soloer like me enjoy that "auto-grouping" feature with the difficulty scaling.
* No levels. Grinding to 5k is more than optional. It grants nothing useful with the actual content. Sure you can unlock the 9 perks slots right now. I got 6 at 1k and it's more than enough for what needs to be done for now.
* No gear grind. Yep, it's not a gear centric game. Everybody wants orange stuff but they are not a requirement damage-wise. A blue or purple at 1k comes to me with 4 slots opened, nano effects and 4 parts synergy.
So what I've done is adapt and I changed my playstyle to a slow paced unorganised travel. I do a main mission here, a contract there, a trial, a side mission, I look for Arfalls and I complete my pursuits. Got about 150 hours in, I'm 1100 EGO and still in Sausalito. I haven't even yet crossed the GG.
In Alpha I rushed and defeated Nim a couple times in between 500 and 700 EGO. I'm glad I adapted a bit
I now know the content will be weekly based, be it pursuits, missions, whatever, with one week to complete them. It somehow makes understandable the lack of content at release (though a second story arc would have been greatLet see what they got up their sleeves once they get rid of the problems).
325 ego?? man... your just starting, if your getting bored maybe you just dont like the game, or your missing something
World of Warcraft costs 15$ a month to play as well + the initial purchase of the game and all expansions to stay current. Defiance does not. Also WoW's development team is HUGE. Much bigger than Trion's 200 employee's. Comparing Wow to Defiance is like comparing men to women. Differences all around.
While I did play WoW for many years, I'm an adult gamer that has limited time. It was becoming too exhausting to grind for everything to feel competitive. Tradeskills, PvE, PvP, Quests, there was just to much to do. While some people find the time to do it all, I never could and I felt like I wasn't getting my monies worth due to my lack of not being able to accomplish all that I wanted.
Take Defiance for what it is. A Buy/Free to Play MMOTPS. You can't expect Free to Play games to have as much content as games like World of Warcraft. WoW has been out for 10+ years to develop the content it has... Defiance JUST launched. I grew up on playing EverQuest which is now a Free to Play game with a optional subscription fee if you want to unlock everything. Most of the content it has is from the many years of it being an MMO and the money generated from those years of sales+subscription fee's. Give Defiance a chance before crying foul. They will push content and DLC's, but don't expect MAJOR content such as things you see in an expansion in WoW and like games.
