A Patcher that doesn't resume???!?!?!

I just bought Defiance and have been installing for 3 and 1/2 hours. I find out I ran out of space on my hard-drive (Oops, haven't cleaned out those old games in a while). So I make room - plenty of it - and the patcher won't auto start up again. Ok, so I close the patcher and relaunch it (no worries) like I have done in every MMO since i started EQ in 2000. However, upon re-opening the patcher, I find that it is starting from the BEGINNING!!?!?!?! Seriously Trion?? I know you guys are not idiots.....well I thought. It's 2013, why will my patcher just delete 3 and 1/2 hours of DL data? Now I get to go into a game pissed off over something so idiotic for devs to miss. Why in the are we going back to the stone ages of downloads where I have to do it all in one sitting....stupid stupid stupid. This is just laziness and cutting corners. Trion, you have had one fairly successful MMO, don't start getting lazy and being stupid like the big publishers. This is something I would expect from SOE, not Trion. All I can say is I am sorely disappointed and sadly there is nothing to do about the situation but hog my thru-put for another 4 hours and rant on here hoping some dev will see my displeasure, all the while knowing that it will have no effect.

It does resume. It keeps the information in the patcher.txt and manifest.txt files in your Defiance directory, and if it can't verify the files those list it will redownload the files again. If the game needs to redownload one or more of the WAD files, they're pretty large and it's going to take a while to complete.

Well my patcher is going from 90% complete to 0% complete so obviously this is not true, or flawed, or the entire game is in 1 single WAD file, which is a silly proposition. Regardless this is silly, and something that has NEVER happened to me in a previous game and I am thoroughly pissed.

TC is correct.

I spent almost four days downloading this because the first two days I made no progress. My original download claimed it would take 11 hours to complete. I let my PC sit overnight and when I woke up it said "Patch Error." Thus, I attempted to continue downloading my remaining files and low and behold there were only 11 more hours to go! What's worse is that it failed AGAIN with only 2 hours left and when I resumed the update it said only 8 more hours of downloading to go!

I ended up downloading 22GB worth of data when the game is ONLY 10.8 GB. I was keeping track of my folder size after having been forced to download this game for nearly 30 hours. One of the worst patchers I've ever been in contact with.

I got the game on saturday and have been DLing the "update" off and on since then(Due to "Patch Error: Please try again later). I havent been able to play and my current folder size is 22.5gb. -_-

When I first down loaded the game, it took me less then two hours and then for this last big patch. It took less then a hour. You might want to look at your end and not at the DEV's end of things. The problem might be with your internet or your system. And one last thing, if you have the beta on your computer, you may want to delete it. It will cause problems with the game itself.

Guild Wars 2 patcher, Final Fantasy 14 Beta patcher, and Dark Age of Camelot patcher would like to have a word with Defiance patcher... in a back alley in possible. It's the worst patcher in the history of all MMO's I've ever patched.

im struggling big time to patch the game, having to constantly keep an eye on it as it will be busy downloading at a decent speed, then suddenly reduce to 0, and sit there, restarting the patcher gets it going again but after thinking i might be playing in a few hours, im just hoping to get it done some time today.. not the best experience for a new game bought today :/

For me, i pathced.I stopped for some reason half way through.I restarted later and it said 0% but it WAS 0% of what was left not the whole thing.

Others may have issues of course and sorry to hear that.
