Why have I installed this game three times? :/

Bought the game. I've been having a blast with it, as well. My girlfriend who lives with me decided she wanted to take a crack at it on her own XBL account (which is on the same Xbox) and it's making her go through the whole patching ordeal all over again.

    Essentially I've:
Installed the game once already upon putting it into my disc tray when I first purchased it.
Installed the game again when prompted to at the main screen as recommended (err, ok...)
Downloaded all the patches. Played for a while.
Downloaded "Sharks (In Winter Solstice)" patch.
Girlfriend boots up the game on her account.
Installs the game a third time already. (lolwhut?)
    Downloads all of the patches.
Downloads "Sharks (In Winter Solstice)" a second time.

Is there any way to streamline this or am I doomed to have Defiance just ****ing devour HDD space for as long as we're both playing on the same console?

That does seem kind of odd considering you guys are using the same storage device when prompted...correct?

I had a similar problem with Borderlands 2.
Installed on one account but when the other signed in it was unavailable.
What I did was sign in and load up the game with the original account then press the xbox guide button and sign out of your account and sign your girlfriends in.
Basically the game is loaded up just the user is different but the game has already done the initial checking etc.

Hmm... now the million-dollar question: Is this saving into three different game/patch installations? :/

    Okay, quick update:

The trick of "signing out" after the initialization screen is a no-go. Upon signing out for whatever reason it kicks me back to the dashboard. Upon looking at the storage device, I have two sets of the patch data set as "Saved Game" for each respective profile.

    That's kind of weird. :/

I'm on 2ed install on the same account as we speak. (or as I type I guess) I think it's remeber the pacths so that'll save me a day or two or waiting. Scrath that there gone as well.
