If you remove EGO from PvP you have a third rate TPS multiplayer shooter with only 2 (3 soon hopefully) maps.

Wow what a horrible idea.

I like the EGO powers in game, because it makes me play a bit harder to ensure someone doesn't 1 shot me. Otherwise I could take all the defensive perks and stay in one spot, since a sniper won't kill me even with a head-shot.
For me, the variations against what I fight will determine how motive I am in the game. Even seeing certain names, will influence my playstyle; since I know they will come for me in certain situations.
No one style dominates the others. Blur does alot of melee, so I fire grenades and SOS nade style shots at my feet before dodging to kill them. OC likes to hang back, so either dodge with Immunizer fire and nade at where they will walk, or nade and nade SOS where they are going. Decoy, fire at where you think they'd go. And Stealth, just shoot at where their blur is. It's all relatively easy to counter, if you have any level of clue about PvP in this game. Because you see every variation so often, even if it isn't played at its best.
Actually I enjoy the PVE and PVP integration. If I want it otherwise, I can play any of the other hundreds of shooters in the current market.
Double the CD on EGO powers in PVP while preventing the reload=CD reduction perks from working as effectively and call it a day...

I don't agree about removing Ego powers entirely but they could stand to be balanced. I've said since my first pvp match that cloak needs nerfing but I was called a crybaby who didn't know how to use cloak effectively and just wanted others not to use it. I had never used cloak prior to that so I spec'd cloak to prove it is OP, not the cookie cutter version of perks like most though, and immediately went from routine matches of 7-9kills amd 3-4 deaths using overcharge to routine matches of 10-15 kills and 2-3 deaths using cloak. I've even gone 19 and 1 with cloak.
I would say I'm a solid average maybe a bit above average when it comes to MP in shooters, so for one Ego power to make me THAT much better instantly with zero learning curve is testament that it is, in fact, overpowered. People that disagree obviously haven't experienced versus class balancing in other MMOs. I remember when my Infiltrator could one shot anyone including warriors with his backstab in DAOC. The devs saw the outcry from everyone saying infis were COMPLETELY invisible and shouldn't be able to kill 3-4 people and run off scott free, so they gave Archers (can't remember the class name) True Sight. Suddenly any time I was dumb enough to try and backstab someone with group mates around, an archer would pop true sight and wax me before I could sneak away. Sure, I might get the kill, especially if I backstabbed a squishy wizzy or something, but it meant guaranteed death.
You can argue that the same principle exists in Defiance with the Decoy perk to reveal all cloaked players nearby, but the fact of the matter is decoy is shtako other than that one perk so no one takes it It is beyond silly how easy pvp is with cloak. The biggest problem I see is the ability to re enter cloak after firing. IMHO if you fire your gun or get shot your cloak should immediately expire and begin its cooldown. I was able to take out four players with a single clocloak use because by the time they turned around after the first guy died I was re cloaked and running behind them again. Like I said, cloak = pvp on easy mode.
Not to mention the fact that you can spawn with the game's most powerful weapons. In PvP if you die chances are it was either a shotgun user or someone spamming AOE grenade launcher/detonator/rockets. Making power weapons more limited in their use in PvP would greatly alleviate the issues people have with cloak, not to mention making AOE spammers that can't hit the broad side of a barn with a precision weapon actually have to fight for their kills.
So either buff decoy or nerf cloak, or pretty soon it will boil down to hide and seek matches in pvp.
Decoy just needs more HP and Blur needs some form of defensive component (static or something more creative doesn't matter) in both PvE and PvP.
There's nothing wrong with EGO powers in PvP in general, just that you'd want only two of them in almost any possible situation ... and again, PvE differs very little here.
The "learn to adapt" comments are perfectly valid, however, right now pvp greatly revolves around Cloak - using it or always having to counter it. I get tired of playing Hide and Seek.
Lame. People should either get their rage in check or get better.
