I was answering an off topic about What two shows. I had an answer of a show I liked. Firefly.. started me thinking. Definace kind of has a firefly feel to me.
Thoughts.?.

I love Firefly very much, but I don't see much resemblance to Defiance from it.

I never watched firefly but I do like defiance or at least what I have seen of it so far
Defiance was nice to watch, but It's nowhere near as good as firefly was, and i can't say i felt any resemblance.
Will definitely watch defiance, but I hope it gets a little better![]()
Well Nolan has a scavenger/ not always the good guy personality like Mal. Irissa could become an all around badass like River. The sister who owns the need/want has some similiarity to Inara. I actually thought it was kinda a Firefly/Jericho feel. Minus the flying around in space and the fact there are aliens.
To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three tigers.

Looks like Gunsmoke in the 23rd and half century. Or Romeo and Jule8 in space frontier. Or just another space western, like Battle beyond the stars.
Older and Slower than you.
I kind of know what you mean. It's not a direct comparison, though- more of simile ideas approached in different ways. Both deal with a kind of 'frontier' feeling, with settlements struggling to establish and survive. Both focus on characters who are not quite good or evil. Both deal with a certain amount of bounty-hunting.
Beyond that, I wouldn't say they are really comparable.
