PLEASE- Enough with the data recorders!

People missing the point as usual, the recorders are fine and any way to get more background to the shallow game is great. People just dont want to feel forced in to finding them for some other sake, they just end up watching a video to tick the box of 'found recorders' which doesnt add anything to the game. Having the recorders dotted around the place for information is enough. In fact I'd bet people would enjoy them further if there wasnt a big simple ingame list of recorders so that people could find new ones for story that perhaps other people hadnt found yet.

WE ARE NOT SAYING DO AWAY WITH THEM we just want them to not hinder our advancement because we dont care as much about the lore. yes it is important but it should be something optional not forced on the masses. sure make more data recorders add ore depth to the story but don't stop our pursuits

But, at their core, aren't all mmo games just glorified task treadmills designed to keep you playing for a set ammount of time? A drive to increase replay time at all costs.

The data recorders are no worse than many other carrot on a sticks that have been done before.

Guides for how to get them were up within a hour or two of the patch, I don't see how it hinders anyone :/

To me some of the fun is getting a community effort to find these, and without the recorders being of some significant value outside of the recordings themselves, you simply would not get that.

It's sort of an exploration thing, and I have absolutely no problem with them being there.

Data recorders are a good way to introduce additional lore (like character backgrounds), but we should not rely on them to tell the whole story, if they keep it this way then I welcome more of them. Either way, nobody is forcing you to do them, that 5 EGO levels or so from the pursuit will not make you any better if you only want to "shoot and die".

Whilst i like the lore contained within the recorders,i must concede that they are a tad lacklustre as mission content. I ALWAYS youtube their locations as i havent got the patience to amble around the wilderness to find them-my hat's off to those that do!

Im sure future content will be more..dynamic?

I like the intel in the recorders. I don't like the mechanics for finding them.

I don't mind looking for them, but "Somewhere in San Francisco" or worse yet, for the new time-limited recorders, "Somewhere in the game" does not sufficiently narrow down the location to make me want to start looking for the ones I'm missing. That's exactly why people are going to youtube instead of looking for them on their own.
