Eh. Ive spent several years doing that in shooters, in an actual competitive setting, not just owning random kids in PUGs. 4 years running a competitive clan across several games + running ladders and tourneys while working for Gamebattles / MLG. Had enough of that to last me awhile. I still enjoy fighting other players, but in a shooter it tends to get boring when that is the only thing do after youve done it for so many years. And as much fun as I have in PvP in MMORPGs, that gets kind of tedious as well since pretty much everything in the past 10+ years has used the same basic mechanics & playstyle (REALLY cant wait for this to change. So much more these games could do, but they justs tick to the same old routine).
I didnt get Defiance purely for the PvP, but without any PvP I dont waste my time on MMOs. At least Defiance offers me the hybrid of both shooter + MMO as well as the mix of PvE and PvP, so I can switch as the mood takes me. If not for the hybrid thing though I would have likely passed on the game altogether and spent my money on a decent SRPG instead.
Because weapons don't scale up at a large rate, you can actually play the game with friends that have a much higher or much lower EGO. I completely disagree with your points, and I am glad they didn't make this game about collecting purple and orange weapons (though it is nice to collect some nice hardware, I still have green and blue guns from when I was EGO 100)
Yet another useless topic and thread. You know what? I like the game. It's the forums I am starting to hate lol.

it could be more of a success
I think Trion Worlds should just made certain areas you go into on the map endless PVP wars zones
Your locked into these PVP war zones but when your knocked down you can respawn into the PVP war zone or outside of it i.e. exit
