Ok let's put this in perspective then. By your comments you would have expected World of Warcraft, Fallout, Skyrim, any other number of open world/MMO's to come out with minimal glitches then? You have extremely unrealistic expectations. It is a problem with literally ALL, let me repeat that since you're not getting it, ALL MMO's. It is not endemic to only Defiance. Go Google how many updates/patches there were on WoW within the first week of it's existence for proof.
If by "unrealistic expectations" you mean a game that functions properly then you're correct. I already stated that I don't care about what other MMOs do. Each game is a representation of the specific developer tied to it and if it's exceptionally broken then that's all that needs to be said about that developer. If all MMOs were the same then why do people buy new ones and why can't developers learn from past MMO mistakes? Because they're different games, regardless of what any other game in that genre did it doesn't excuse how broken Defiance is.
At this point you've literally got me face palming here. Ok. I'm going to ask you some questions and respond to you once you've answered them.
1. Did you buy/play any Bethesda games released for consoles?(Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas)
2. Did you buy/play any MMO's or MMORPG's?(WoW, FFXI, FFXIV, Rift, Aion, etc)
No human being is perfect. Until a perfect person starts creating games, they will continue to launch with bugs.
1. Fallout 3 GOTY Edition on the PS3 (Decided never to play another game made by that developer again)
2. FF11 in its later stages but it didn't interest me enough to keep me playing so I have no opinion on it
I already told you I don't care what other MMOs have done. Maybe MMOs are broken in general but when a game is broken to the point where nobody can consistently play it without major problems.... Maybe other MMOs have had their problems but that doesn't mean us as consumers have to roll over and take it. Why do you think the playerbase is rapidly declining? Maybe since you're used to this kind of treatment it isn't a big deal to you but at this rate I see MMOs dying off in the near future. Of course solid MMOs will still hold true but anything after that will be doomed. Trion's consistency is what worries me, not the game itself. When they can't even fix something without creating a whole other set of major problems then that shows their inability as developers. People are eventually going to get tired of all the long term problems and drop this game. By far the most broken/unfinished game I've ever played (besides a few I don't care to mention).
This is precisely my point. Proc, you don't seem to understand that literally [B]EVERY/B] MMO/MMORPG has bugs and glitches upon it's release. Yet if you look at every single one of those games you will literally see dozens of patches/version updates/etc. What do you think those are for?
To fix the bugs and glitches of their respective games. Trion Worlds has also NEVER programmed any games for any console. Prior to Defiance all of their games have been PC only. For you to say you expect this game to come out bug free and ready to rock just highlights that you have no understanding of what it takes to program. It also shows that you have ridiculously out of reach expectations.
Just a final thought since I'm not going continue trying to explain something to someone who just doesn't get it.
You are expecting a developer who has never released a console game, let alone a console MMO, to release an open world console game with no glitches/bugs. If that were to happen Trion Worlds would have been the first developer in the history of MMO's to accomplish this. Think about that.
Unrealistic expectations. Maybe you should come back in a few months when the game might be up to your lofty standards.
no i mean its sonys fault for it being late but its not neccassarily a bad thing rather have a great patch a few days late than a buggy one
He is not saying he wants a perfect game right away, just one that lets him play when its already about 2 weeks since launch. Also, bugs are to be expected yes, but ones that keep you from playing for days on end usually are not, nor should they be accepted. After all the testing they did and the beta, some of these problems should have been found in time for a fix to be out a few days after launch, yet here we are with people still unable to play.
Well if they're not capable of creating a functioning game on consoles due to lack of experience they shouldn't have charged the price of other new games released. Maybe if you ever marketed anything you'd know where I was coming from. If you want to charge full price for something and start on top of the food chain then expect a lot of ******** when the game comes out that's not to everyone's standards. If that's the general mentality then maybe the game shouldn't have been released on consoles at all.
