I can tell you right off

Its an MMO, MMOs are known for getting really bad reviews, and extremly mixed reviews even amongst them.

for an MMO, you pretty much have to pay off the reviewers to get a good review because its virtualy imposible for them to play and judge a game fully because itl take way too long.

Blizzard gets good reviews, because its blizzard and they pay for their reviews, everyone else is pretty much SOL.

I have not been able to take IGN seriously since they gave "BRINK" a 6. I mean that game was a 2 max and thats only because of the art style and concept for gameplay with that "SMART system". other than that the game was a steaming pile of you know what. Clearly Splash Damage paid to at least get that review.

World of Warcraft, like any MMO, is a tough game to score. Your play experience will have no concrete resolution, and content and character class balancing will make for a slightly different experience from one month to the next. And WoW III had some debilitating issues at launch trying to handle the record-breaking number of people filing in for subscriptions. After having written about the extremely long queues, they have dwindled to almost nothing, even at peak playing times, and the game has become much more stable. I still get the occasional crash, but WoW still has a polish that puts most other MMO launches to shame. Almost a victim of its own popularity, World of Warcraft quickly found its feet, serving up no fewer than eighty-eight servers across the country, with more likely on the way.

That was ign verdict on wow. Funny thing is wow took 1 month to sort out their launch problems they even extended the 30 days play time before they started billing you. That's not a good launch and not a launch that puts others to shame.

Below is ign verdict for eve online

Overall I'd say that EVE has great potential. Though still struggling through the early stages of MMO growth, the game seems to be shaping up quite well. Live events staged by the developers are already being planned, helping to make the game that much more fun. And the game mechanics make it possible for pretty much anyone to have fun. This game is for anyone who wants to be able to truly affect the game world around them, and be a part of the force that shapes the story of EVE. This game is not for those who want to be told where to go and what to do next, and is not for those who just want to go out and kill things. There are consequences to your actions in this game, and if you are unable to grasp the political situation and learn to battle in that arena as well as you battle the other players with your weapons, you won't survive long.

Fairly good review for eve by ign. Even though misleading because at launch eve was nothing more than a space mining sim ( loved eve played it for years from launch ).

Wow got a 9.1. And eve got an 8. Now to me wow was crap at launch and a simple go here kill 40 odd undead run back and you could easily solo it. Now eve, well to me ( even though at the start it was a mining sim ) was brilliant it was the best mmo experience I had. It basically forced you to make friends and just as easily enemies . You could try and do it solo but trying to run moo blockades by yourself was just plain suicide.

What I'm saying is a review is nothing but a guide. Tbh review sites should stop using scores, no one agrees with them and no one ( not even a reviewer ) probably knows how they actually get the score.

Where as cod is the same every year with maybe a new gun or a new kill streak.

I was playing till past 12 last night and did hardly any missions they amount of people just talking or jumping quad bikes or just having fun is growing day by day and i agree with people the ones who dont like it should just leave and go do something else,Oh and on the subject of bad reviews and basis games IGN went past stupiditywhen they gave metal gear rising such a good review when its a poor mans devil may cry but because its metal gear it has to get good reviews.

Funny how that works. Seeing as how game informer rated Gears of War 3 a 9.5 and it's multiplayer is pretty much exactly how you described Defiance's, minus the cloak. That and it was almost exactly the same as Gears 2 and 1.

Game reviews are PAID for. You want a good review bust out some Benjamins. You get a bad review if you don't, that or you're an obscure Japanese company that reviewers have never heard of. That will also get you a bad review.

I actually hit Ego Rating 1000 last night and I've gotta say, it dawned on me. That, for the amount I play it wasn't as rewarding as I thought it'd be. Initially when I first bought the game I loved the concept and enjoyed it. Now it feels kind of bland, did they lack the drive to add more content? I mean the main story was pretty short, side missions were easy most of the time and they've now given you the option to replay the story? I mean come on, the story isn't all that great so why on earth would I play through it all again? XP? Yeah I'd consider it maybe if the levelling up was more rewarding.

The Predator Armor for a start! 4000 Ego Rating? Are you kidding me? Yeah the Armor looks pretty badass but thats WAY too much grinding just for that. Another thing that bothers me is the lack of customization and variation in the game. You can't alter your vehicles; You can't alter your weapon appearance (I'm talking about skins, camo etc) You can't even edit your player once you've made them. Even the Weapon stats are a miss! Why not take another borderlands feat and create a random gen for weapon stats? Without a banking system or mailbox system the trading is more or less pointless. In fact, there are MANY things this game missed out on.

BUT! - With all of this being said, It's only the beginning. No MMO starts off fantastic, you invest at the beginning and you'll be a part of the reason new things get added and updated. Hasn't even been out a month yet, I reckon give the game some time and with the additions they SHOULD make, the reviews will shoot up. This a long post btw, apologies about that xD

The thing that gets me most is that people who slag this game off say that xbox owners dont have any mmo's so course we're gonna like it but the fact is me like most xbox owners have a pc and i have played wow and swtor and others and i like this more ok wow started off years ago buggy then it grew (just like this game will) and it got alot better and then a few years ago they made it alot easier made the classes unfairly matched and the monsters very easy so my choice is instead of downloading wow and playing for free (till lvl 25) i would rather buy this game and play this as the enemy AI is much much better and its a great world that will get even better

Lol, this is the 3rd time ive seen players not understanding the pointlessness until they experience it for them selves. To everyone else, if you love the game, hey go nuts, but isnt it funny that ign or any other review site had basically been saying the samething players have been saying since release?

Its ok most people love a poorly designed game, and your population isnt as great as you think.
