Early on, Grant states that he can't get any contact with Manhattan for new orders, but later on he makes numerous references to E-Rep Command being on his *** to do this or do that, or collect samples of this and that.

They were having issues with long range comms. They are now, I believe, using the KTAM station as a relay point.

Agree with Smitch on this one, I believe as you go through the story you give Grant the capability to contact E-Rep Command, there are a few things with the story line that I have questions with and people pointed out that I'm an idiot, but realy that was a good question.

I don't think Ara had any issues at any point. The infrastructure she was using was fine. Grant however, crashed into a valley and was relying on portable units with no infrastructure and mountains all around him. Thus KTAM being fired up, updated and used as a relay.

thought out the first part of story you are fixing the comms their are a number of side quests also related to this so you help the e-rep get back in the game
