From One Sniper To The Devs

I fully appreciate all the feedback from the community on this topic. Im glad people in this game actually engage in conversations on the forums as opposed to constantly harassing, so i just wanna say thanks to yall first off.

Secondly i wanna address something alot of you are bringing up, and thats about being proficient with all weapons of a category.

My counter to that is as such - Semi Auto snipers are ALOT easier / faster to level / use than a bolt action. With my Ego setup, almost everything i shoot dies in 1 shot from both the semi and the bolt so i dont really see much of a difference in difficulty other than if you miss with the semi, you can easily fire another shot or 2 very very quickly and still pick up a kill. With a 15 bullet clip, and still hitting relatively high crits with my Ego setup i still wish the bolt action was the only one required or have it set up so you can use either / or

Every other category has guns that from my experience level up rediculously fast, even my BMGs are level 5 ( i use it for healing / shielding on most classes as a 2ndary since switching to another setup takes meer seconds and with stealth i can change setups without worry of anything ) but the point is, even tho Bolts from my experience level more slowly, id still like to not be forced into using a gun that has no place in the sniper world.

1 Shot 1 Kill = Sniping
Anything else is just a long range assault riffle :-P

I love Anna the Bolt Action Sniper rifle. Why? She's elegant and precise. If you miss, it's your own damn fault (Even though some shots mysteriously pass through their eyes and they come out alive...?). I love the sound that Anna makes as I pull back her bolt and push it back in for the next shot, I love the number 5000 because it's what I see all the time when I headshot something. Half the time, Unless I am having an abysmal day, they will never even know I was there. They will simply be standing around like turkeys as I take them out one by one.

With a Semi-auto, I just don't get that same love. That is why Semi-autos are garbage and Bolt Action will be forever.

Btw ive seen crits as high as 14k so far ( those big guys covered in armor that you have to shoot their backs, when they drop on their knees, you can hit them 3 times for 10-14k )

Finished 5k bolt kills today, missing 5 levels of semi... Seriously the worst weapon type in the game. Wouldn't be so bad if you at least could aim reliably from the hip.

lol, yeah, cuz those are meant to be shot from the hip.

Anyways, semi's just need a damage buff, to be honest.

I do have to agree with most that the semi-auto's just don't feel near as smooth and sexy as a bolt action. They are nice for non-flinching large enemies as you can unload on them but otherwise I find it far more efficient to just put them out of their misery quick and simple. Longer draw distance that 100m ish, being able to hit targets farther out(YES, you mean I can snipe over 100m out??..exaggeration but not off by much judging on objective distances) and a red dot/reflex sights for med-short range firing would also be very nice.

As someone who has done all these combat pursuits with exception of Living to kill V I know from experience that Snipers have the EASIEST weapon of which they need to level, no other weapon took me nearly as little time as the semi to level, and the bmg easily took 5 times as long.

Do keep in mind that in general these pursuits are not supposed to be something you complete in a day.

Also see someone mentioned snipe from shadows is worse then stout, come on the two are hardly even compareable, stout is so much worse due to the bmg alone.

Only part that is time consuming when it comes to the snipe from shadows is the 5k bolt kills, and thats only if you are using the max dmg one rather then the votan bolters.

I ran around with double votan bolters + prepardness clearing random missions and got the kills quite easily.

Really no big deal, and my current char is only a week old or so, I however have a disturbing amount of free time, and being a old eq player I actually quite enjoy grinding.

And actually did the stout one on my first char aswell, so know exactly how much worse it is, leveling bmg's WILL make your soul suffer, trust me.

Agree with the OP. I found the get to 10 in Semi-Auto snipers annoying. I dislike the semi-autos greatly compared to bolt actions. They should really give you the option of getting either bolt actions or semi-autos to 10, not force into using the one type over the other to complete a pursuit, then switch back the one you actually want to use and have to level all over again.
