animals are being found having evolved within the last 100 years to recently.. because they do not control their environment...

as for the progress of technology.. as neat as it is.. we really are in a race to see if it will save us....

the wars that will come soon, won't be anything like the wars We know or I have fought in, where a side declares themselves victor and some armistice or treaty is brokered... it will be flat out genocide, it will have to be, and no matter what term or calling they put a name to in order to rationalize participating in it, each nation will have fight for survival.

I am all for advancements in this technology to stay the hand of doom as it were, but they alone, for now, will not the solution, we will need several other measures, dramatic population control, new laws and policies, and globally, more of an interest in our survival
and less on religion, politics, and pretty much anything else that does not inherently benefit the progression and survival of mankind.

Wars have been about genocide since recorded history. Wiping out an opposing tribe/fiefdom in order to replace it with your own settlers, your own blood. Technology isn't just staying the hand of doom, that hand of doom was with us when we huddled in caves nibbling the remaining dried strips of last week's successful hunt, and when we were huddled in wooden shacks sucking leather with our crops rotting in waterlogged fields, while those few tonnes that made it to harvest were taken to feed the crusading armies. It was there when plague wiped a third of the population of Europe off the Earth. The hand of doom is the reason we developed technology in the beginning.

The first people to domesticate/corral cattle in the Neolithic Era tramped down the forests and undergrowth enough that it could be readily cleared by hand and harnessed beasts, and then were able to take the seeds from plants and trees and plant them in orderly rows. They favoured the cattle and seeds that produced the most, survived heat and wet and disease. They did this because they didn't want to rely on hunting for sustenance, or scavenging berries and fruit throughout a whole forest. It took too long and was too much effort and was too unreliable.

Those early tribes were no more assured of survival than we are today.

Since you're focusing on evolution here, I should point out a misnomer. Evolution is not progression towards an ideal best image. Evolution is mutation given opportunity, outperforming other species in their specific environments. Evolution does not -necessarily- offer a solution to any issue of war, privation or technological integration.

What does offer that solution is the multiplicity of specialists. Human brains trained and developed to understand and work with all the varied forms of technology, to redundancy. You might laugh, but the computer and its workings trains the brain nearly as much as we program the computer.

Apart from when I tried a female char in everquest (and some guy gave me a bronze breastplate because he thought it would be sexy), I've never really seen this. And if a guy tries to hit on any female char of mine I say I'm a guy btw).

No one's ever hit on any female characters of mine, I'm just saying that perception wise, even though it's generally known female characters may be dudes IRL, they may have an edge in some areas. They may not, too. Who knows? Who cares, even?

Personally, I was using my 4 character slots to reserve some cool names before they got used. I made 2 male and 2 female and began to level them past the tutorial. For some reason, on the last character I made, which just happened to be female, I continued playing the game for a few more hours without switching back over to my initial choice. Before I knew it, I was EGO 70ish and just figured, why bother starting over. Also, she looks cool as hell, so why not?

My female toons get hit on every game I've played. Even the fugly ones. Especially the fugly ones, since they have a desperate look about them that many adolescent males seem to find attractive. It happened within 20 minutes of starting this game - some dude kept stalking my toon and crouching in front of her. I lol'd at his pleas for attention, then felt kind of sorry for him. If that's the only way he can get off, he must be even more desperate than my fugliest toon.

OP.. and others.. What you call "perverted" is a biological norm.. it's supposed to happen. That's part of being a living creature. Perversion however, and this of course depends on the opinion of a person as far as degrees, is something we invented.. a social construct to dictate and attempt to restrain our base needs. Men don't stare at boobs and butts because they are perverted. they are actually, whether they know it or not, assessing the viability of potential selection for a breeding mate. Seeing if the structure is beneficial to a good birth, and if that female has the potential to provide sufficient nutrition. This is the same reason females are attracted to, more muscular men, men who are fit (yes.. jocks) and capable of physically defending her and her brood. Men able to provide the more hardy nutrition via the hunt..

so.. in regards to what is perverted.. should we not simply consider things such as.. sexual interest in those not in their prime for breeding as perverted? those interested in sexual activity with others that cannot produce offspring nor provide a life for them or their children?

having an interest.. digitally or otherwise, in the opposite sex is not only as far from being perverted as possible, but natural.

When you look at it it's:
Survival: What we do as individuals in life: work for resources to buy food, water, shelter, to better the chances of attracting a mate (depending on standards) and interacting within the community (mob/tribe- town)
As a community: (mob/tribe) To protect one another for the above reasons, we all know working together betters our chance of success, I don't have to out run the PREDATOR just you, but, if there's 3 or 4 of us we can work as a group to distract and throw poo, sticks and stones until the predator decides were just to annoying and gives up (look at how 'healthy communities work in the modern era') we work together so we all benefit. Survive as a tribe. I've concentrated fire on a big enemy then dodged heaps when I got it's attention to give the other players a chance to 'heal up' or shoot it in the back.
Communities become Nations, 'Races' (hate that word) religions, Ideologies etc. One town in a nation mines resources for another town that provides food for the town providing resources. Any threat to 'Nation' or towns' can pool a large protective resource. The 'Nation survives by having communities that produce resources that other communities need, the communities survive because the individuals full fill roles (jobs) to produce the resources, and the individual has a job to procure resources (money in the modern world, but it could be as eaisly be an excess of livestock etc.) To make his or herself more attractive to the opposite sex. Physical appearance not withstanding but remember: free from disease, lack (or inclusion) of scaring, well developed structure (good nutrition) good living space (builds a nice structure or found/cleared a nice cave to owning a nice apartment.
This all reports back to us as surviving as an individual. No matter how civilised we get, at the absolute base level it will always boil down to : not out running you, just the predator.
What has this to do with guys purving on the avitors of female characters. Nothing.
Except "checking" out is as ingrained as natural development, and it's still here for a reason, despite how 'civilized' we would like to think we are.
If you read all that B/S I would like to state (look out for a shorter thread) I agree with the first thread. I have 'Purved', not crouched, look up and focus. More camera down for cleavage and or quick pan around. Worst is slowing down in a multiplayer map to let the FEM CHAR get in front. But in the first Check out pan, I did realize that there was another player on the other end, and thought, If their observing me doing that, what sort of D**kH**d do I look like. I occasionally still do a pan and scan, or be looking down as I wonder by, but sometimes Male characters to just to observe some of the available avaitars I don't have yet.

fact is, not only did you incorrectly quote the sales of games.. but compared a single game to a franchise...

even the worst tomb raider ever made sold close to the same number as ANY GoW game by it self.. as a franchise Tomb Raider DWARFS the sales of the GOW franchise by a landslide.

another fact.. GoW is, by far and wide, not even close to have sold as many games "Than any other franchise in console gaming".. not even remotely close.... a huge difference between barely 10mil and 500mil.... there are several games I'm sure you've never even heard of that have sold more than twice that of GoW..

Some info I had no idea about. End of the day. As I understand it the tomb raider series altogether did pretty well. Was that simply because it was such a good game( arguably yes) or because with hours of watching someone running down endless halways (we'll not mention the acrobatics) the larger 'dynamic' of players 'liked' the view, so encouraged sales, and subsequent, releases, and franchise etc.

I actually got it because it was a great game/one of the best back in 95/96 (can't remember which year it came out) it gave me the whole Indiana Jones vibe at the time which is one of the reasons why i got it.
