All signs point to guns leveling a bug

Based on what I've seen, I can only assume individual guns are supposed to be able to level more than once and the fact that they "cap" is just a bug. It looks as though the xp bar on the bottom of the screen rolls over as if to start another level once it reaches max, and the really weak bonuses for leveling the weapon would indicate that it should be able to go up even more. Is this an actual bug or truly intended? If it's a bug, please fix this along with my weapon type skill not being able to increase once the individual weapon levels. I would like to be able to continue using my favorite weapons.

You have weapon SKILL exp and weapon item EXP
Weapon skill max is L20, weapon item maxes is L1

The Weapon item EXP is linked to the weapon, once it it maxed, the weapon has a new bonus and you will stop getting exp for both the weapon and the skill.


To continue to get weapon SKILL exp, you need to get a new weapon (of the same sort)

Did you even read his post? He already says that but he is wondering if it's bugged because it looks like the bar has multiple levels for individual weapons. He also wants the bug fixed for not leveling the skill after an individual weapons bar is maxed.

It would be nice if it was just a bug that could be corrected. I've retired a lot of awesome weapons just on account of no longer being able to level up my weapon skills with them any more. :/

The bottom of the screen xp-bar (below weapon type silhouette) seems to be weapon type leveling stage, not that specific gun in use.

Log into the game, go to the HELP screen IN GAME and read what is says in game about the weapon exp and cap, its not a bug, its working as designed.

Did I ever say it's a bug? No I did not. I was telling you what he said. Reading comprehension, how does it work?

Mr. Ninja, I think you're missing what Natjur is saying. The OP is wrong in his assumption that weapon xp capping is a bug. It's not. As Natjur pointed out, devs have commented that it is acting as intended. Weapons have a single xp cap which will halt weapon SKILL xp when capped. This is an irritating, but intentional, game mechanic to promote using and searching for different weapons. What Natjur was also pointing out is that the "bar on the bottom of the screen" which rolls over (as stated by the OP) is showing the weapon SKILL xp, not the individual weapon xp. If this still goes up when you are using a capped weapon, then it is likely a bug. However, I've noticed that the weapon SKILL bars in the game menu tend to be inaccurate, while the bar under the weapon/vehicle is more accurate (not sure what the disconnect there is). I'm also assuming the OP was talking about the bar under the weapon box and not the ego xp bar which also fits his "bottom of the screen" description.
