Why do we, The Humans, the true children of earth, allow these Aliens to live among us, to share our world which they destroyed, to live when so many Humans died.
This is our World, our Eden, Our Paradise and we should not share it with the Alien Filth any longer.

I am not opposed to to Votan immigrants, but strongly opposed to the invasive species of plants and animals they bring. We all need to do our part and burn down Votan flora, and fauna. Each of us, Human and Votan alike, needs to replant native Earth plants, and protect the few remaining native animals. The terraforming and war are the most irresponsible things our leaderships could have done to this planet. Also, why the Votans didn't terraform Mars is beyond my grasp of understanding, ****, humanity would have thanked them.

It's not our world anymore. And it's not the Votan world. It's an alien world for both. And to survive, we must work together.
Also, since about 3/4 of both Votan and Human died, there is plenty of room for everyone, we don't need to fight for it.
There is a theory about Mars being unable to sustain an atmosphere heavier than the one the planet have. I've seen it some years ago, they said the planet core is slowly stopping, and it is the reason it lost a big part of its atmosphere. Basically, that would mean Mars is loosing atmosphere all the time, and it will not go better. Terraforming is impossible, as it's doomed to fail. Except if you can restart its core for good.
I don't have all the details, it was years ago, and you may want to check this theory.

As with all good Sci-Fi, defiance explores issues that we grapple with today in a setting that makes us more willing to consider them than we might otherwise.
Should the earth open it's arms to immigrants seeking a better life, or should we turn our backs on them because we have our own problems and there is a chance that they might make things worse.

Not every world can be terraformed. Earth was picked because at the time, they set out ((3400 or so BC)) they couldn't detect any modern humanoid life on the planet, and earth was in the range that could be transformed. In the 5000+ years it took them to get here... surprise... humanity.
That's greedy, us votans need a paradise too, where would you guys be without votan technology
