The crystal structures we attack in arkfalls are, as I understand it, the fusion crust of materials exposed to atmospheric entry. You have to crack open the egg to get at the yolk. Now, I'd certainly love whole structures to drop, and to fight through levels clearing out waking sleepers and fighting off other scavengers, and I'm happy to wait for a DLC that will contain such. That's what I bought the season pass for, among other things. A gradual development of the game world as opposed to the frontloading that is more common in MMO development.

During beta, many arkfalls were failed due to timeouts. They were tweaked to make them easier to complete, as far as I know. San Fran Arkfalls are still readily completable, but are orders of difficulty removed from the Mount Tam versions. I and a few others were swarmed and taken down by scrappers repeatedly on the final phase.

When you swarm content designed for solo play, or for small party play with greater numbers, it always becomes easier. That holds true in any game that allows it and is the primary reason for limiting party size in instanced content, whatever the game.

I would like improvements. I am very keen for them.

All the story information I provided in my synopsis was taken from ingame dialogue/cutscenes and data recorders, and observation of the game world in general.

The most disappointing thing about Defiance is that we are the characters, yet we cant do anything to enhance the experience for one another other then shoot up the place.

Elizabeth will never beat a real world person. My clan mates are funny and cool dudes in there own way. But it is far and in between when you look at the vast majority of players out there that you cannot have any connection to or experience anything with other then killing things since the functions are not there atm.

Trion is not stupid, Im sure they thought of things like players entering races and other players could gamble and bet on the race. At least I hope the thought went through their minds. But some things are easier said then done. 3 weeks in and imo the game really started to come together on the 16th. No doubt this game will grow and new things are on the horizon.

The lore of Defiance may be on par with Mass Effect's, but the in-game implementation of that story isn't even in the same ballpark as Mass Effect's...it's not even close.

Also, Fallout 3 was not in development for longer than Defiance. Fallout 3 started development, with a skeleton crew of 10 people, in mid 2004 and was released in mid 2008...four years. Defiance has been in development for 5 years.

I think all mmo's should not be reviewed at least until a few major patches have been released.
To the part in bold, ordinarily I'd agree, but when you release a game and start removing time sensitive content week by week you're basically saying it's ready for primetime. If the game isn't ready enough to be reviewed, it's not ready enough for you to be keeping your timeline in regards to Episode content. Hell, keep all the episode content in the game until you fix it and I'll go play something else for a month until Trion gets their act together.

This game is currently mediocre at best, hence the bad reviews.

Dude i have 1 other friend that i tackle arkfalls with everone eles just shows up, so you have an instance designed for 8 plp being played by 20 plp. So it's not like i'm purposely ganging up on enemies, but hell with 2 plp we mow down most opposition. And honestly that "crack the egg to get the yoke" doesn't come off as lazy to you? I mean look at the writing in just the first episode of the series, we have action, love, duty, conflict, greed, sacrifice, and even genuine empathy. I felt bad that nolan chose the town plp over the promise he made to his daughter and elated when she came back to help. NO CHARACTER IN THIS GAME has made me think of them more as a quest giver(okay maybe varus but that cat is funny as hell). I can see all of the characters motivations so clearly on the show, yet the characters that i deal with in at INTERACTIVE VIDEO fall flat. Tell me you don't find that a bit unacceptable storytelling wise.

Fallout 3 was started much earlier by Black Isle under the working title Van Buren, but when the rights were sold to Bethesda by Interplay, Bethesda took over.

On storytelling I entirely agree with you.

Since when do games get a review based purely off of one thing? I'm one of the ones that believes Infinite did NOT deserve the scores it got; it deserves more along the lines of an 8.5. To give something a perfect/near perfect score, it has to be perfect in EVERY regard - not just one. Infinite played like a typical shooter to me, not like BioShock at all. Play the first or second BioShock games and you'll understand what I mean in that regard.

Now Defiance does deserve a solid 6. However, having a lower score doesn't rate a game as being bad or anything - it just means it doesn't come up to the quality of other games in all regards.

Reviews now are generally absolute **** and shouldn't be trusted for the most part. The "system" in which game reviews are done now is so highly biased and nearly worthless because of such.

Does anyone else remember the Game Informer magazine and their reviews on games about 8-10 years ago? Back when a game getting a 9-9.5 was taken with an "Oh my ****ing god this is the very best thing since sliced bread, and I absolutely have to go buy it" since EVERYTHING was sitting in the 6-8 range? Yeah. That's how reviews should be done.

Same reason people buy CoD or BF.They buy it out of loyalty to the name or are persuaded by other very easily because they can't form their own opinions about things so they look at reviews.I've always found Bioshock games & their storylines boring & overrated.

Well, bioshock infinite got high number because of hype and it has "bioshock" name on it. As a fan on bioshock series i would say it is worst and only uninteresting bioshock so far. So don't you worry
