Everything in this game just seems... pointless...

SEEMS.... there in is the Achilles of this game i think , maybe even of Trion ?
Progress is dangerous if your not able to get out of the Dev tower and explain the game you made.
Rift another fine example of progress but the same Achilles a system so complex ,pre build needed to be added for the people that where not into spending hours and hours into that perfect build.
Choice is great but when to many we get a luxury problem ,we get stuck in doubt what will i choose??

This game is so far of the traditional path ,that is a great risk but its not the bugs that hurt this game the most .
Its the Devs not explaining the game in detail to everyone , so everyone can understand.
This aint the secret world where people have to look for clues all over the internet .
Its cool fans try to do the work with wikis ,tutorials but we need some from the ones that made it first hand .
Anyone that is not needed right away should make tutorials as the longer they wait the more people will give up, the more people will give up the more empty the servers will be , the more empty the servers are the less people will buy the game ..etc. The money of the buy to play will be spend and if no new income ,EOL...
No one with a heart wants that to happen , i admit iam far from happy but iam not ready to give up without a fight ,i still believe Trion can make this happen.

This might sound Cynical but i care for Trion but as we have a saying here , soft doctors make stinking wounds . I rather be honest and give a little slap on the wrist than play nice and when things get rough stick that dagger in the back.

Well said. But it's just a matter of time before white knights will try to demolish what you wrote on a basis that "Trion does not need to hold your hand" argument.

Agree with OP. Haven't even finished all the missions, don't see the point. If this doesn't improve soon it's off to pasture at GAME.

EGO points are useless once you level up the EGO bar like 15 times, which is not hard at all. This is because you can only equip one EGO power and four EGO passives. Most of these passives are completely useless while others you would be stupid not to use. Example is 30% increased ammo loot... why? Ammo is so easy to find. One that is too good is half damage when shields run out, this has been a lifesaver so many times. The only reason to increase your EGO rating is for a bigger, well, ego.

Gun rarity and gun level makes no difference. I held onto a level 38 blue FRC Heavy Scattergun until I found a purple version of this same gun at level 800. I want to find a orange one, but why bother? This purple is just as good if not better than most I've seen on the forums.

So lets just say you play this game to get better gear, just like pretty much every RPG or MMO. Let's say you have the best gear in the game. Who cares? Instances are solo-able and do not require good gear at all. Arkfalls are the exact same, and there are so many people you will not fail. The only reason to get better gear is for pvp, which brings me to my next point.

PvP is stupid in this game. Shadow war is like a worse Battlefront and smaller matches just get boring. There's no incentive to play PvP because no skill system and it hardly rewards you for winning or even completing a match. If you plan on just playing PvP in this game, you a better off finding a game that revolves around this element, rather than just adding it in there.

Farming for gear in this game is stupid. The only real farming comes from grinding key codes to use on lock boxes because bosses never give gear. In other games, if you were looking for specific part of equipment you would grind a specific boss/instance/whatever. The best you can hope for in this game is to get a random orange gun in a box and hope someone is willing to trade for something you are looking for.

All of this takes away the fundamental MMO and/or RPG qualities that would otherwise make it a good game. This just leaves it as being a lacking TPS.

Yeah that's what kills it for me, all of the cool elements are left out(Ego means nothing, perks are very basic, weapon base damage doesn't scale. etc) and it feels like a watered down TPS..

This is not a MMORPG, you're mistaken...

It's a shooter! Pure shooter! Why do you think they name their leveling system "the EGO rating"? Because it's nothing like the traditional thing and is basically useless after you get all 10 EGO slots you want(yeah 10)! It's the same mechanic in any single player TPS/FPS. Let me ask you this: how is it fun that I can kill a boss a lot faster than a rookie say, you, not because of my aim and skill but because that I crazily out level you?

Nothing to work toward to? Yep, that's a problem and is exactly why CoD and Battlefield couldn't sell so many copies every year that have no major designing changes... oh wait, they could and they did! Shooters are fun because it's skill based and if you die it's because you suck (if the game can fend off the hackers...) and not because you didn't grind as much as your opponent.

I'm sorry if the genre isn't for you but there're so many high quality MMORPGs out there, stop trying to change Defiance into one of those. Peace out

The difference is, the "pvp" in those games are so so so superior to Defiance. CoD with its twitch gameplay and huge variety of game types, mass playerbase and tournaments, Battlefield with huge maps, vehicles like they're going out of fashion and objective based games. Defiance provides nothing competitive for its pvp, it's bland and short lived.

1. The game will never improve, due to most bugs and issues not being solved.

First for your post to be accurate I'd need to be a fanboy which I'm not. Second, he brought up issues about ego level, I feel he's totally wrong about ego level, I posted why I feel he's wrong about ego level and so have others.

The game will improve over time, people who have nothing to do but complain can move on, it's obvious from his post this game just wasn't right for him. Go play World of Warcrap or better yet go play something else and let this game stew until they bring out more content. It's not a pay per month game, come back in a few months and see if things change.

As for the game's population, that's a valid point, but at the same time, I'm not telling people to go away, they are telling me they don't like the game, then whining about it. The message board has a suggestions portion, use it with your own suggestions on what would make the game better.

Coming and whining about this or that or the other thing just annoys people. Especially when the complaints have already been made in 500 other topics. They promised us Episode missions, we didn't get any this week. I don't care about them fixing bugs they lied to me, I want my money back.... etc etc etc It gets old and by now it's to the point where many people really don't care about the complaint topics. Half of them are very over exaggerated, self entitled whiny little bratty post. You complain about this game not having enough content but you'll slop down 60 dollars on COD or some other game, then additional 50 dollars on a season pass. Yet say this game has no content.

The game doesn't have enough content because I rushed through it. The game only gave me 40 hours, I wanted it to give me 500 hours. Ultimately who cares, the developers will release new content, you either play something else if you are bored until that time or go trade in your game, delete it from your harddrive, whatever. Just stop with the complaints, go into the area of the message board designed for that.

The topic entitled Patch 1.010 errors on the patch notes section for starters. Suggestions section for suggestions on what would make the game better. Saying the game doesn't have content is stupid, it's been said already, nobody cares, at this point pushing the same point just comes across as stupid. If you really dislike the game, go play something else. Why hover around the message board spreading your vile.

I stopped playing Guardians of Middle Earth over 3 months ago, when the game broke and I couldn't play it. Outside of a few post I made the week after it happened, I don't visit that message board anymore. No point exist, am I going to go point out how the game is still broken to people who already know? Why waste my time.

With DLC and weekly content being added to the game. You can easily put 500 hours into the game. I have about 120+ hours already in this game and I'm not even close to quitting. You just need to find stuff to do like PvP or pursuits to work on.
