The idea the pursuits are something to put your focus on to rather than just something that happens whilst you're actually playing the game just astounds me. No other game has tried to claim that their achievement system is content for their players to spend all their time on when the storyline is done.

The thing is, it gives you something to do while we wait for more content.

Yeah the game is pointless, almost as much as this thread.

Oh, Pursuits is the 'End-game' then? Here I was doing them just for fun and to get new outfits and stay up to date with the Weekly Content.

Sure would like to know how to complete this weeks content for the capture and hold pursuits, mind telling me?

It's a shooter! Pure shooter! Why do you think they name their leveling system "the EGO rating"? Because it's nothing like the traditional thing and is basically useless after you get all 10 EGO slots you want(yeah 10)! It's the same mechanic in any single player TPS/FPS. Let me ask you this: how is it fun that I can kill a boss a lot faster than a rookie say, you, not because of my aim and skill but because that I crazily out level you?

Nothing to work toward to? Yep, that's a problem and is exactly why CoD and Battlefield couldn't sell so many copies every year that have no major designing changes... oh wait, they could and they did! Shooters are fun because it's skill based and if you die it's because you suck (if the game can fend off the hackers...) and not because you didn't grind as much as your opponent.

I'm sorry if the genre isn't for you but there're so many high quality MMORPGs out there, stop trying to change Defiance into one of those. Peace out
You dont understand what I'm saying. I recognise that it in original post that, essentially what a poster said before me, it just feels like a watered down shooter. I'm saying that all of the RPG and MMO elements are pointless so it just leaves it as being a TPS. And as a shooter it is lacking because of terrible PvP, terrible story, no challenge, frequent bugs and lag, etc etc.

I'm basically saying that Trion tried to mix MMO, RPG, and TPS and ended up with the worst qualities of each.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go emulate some Dukes of Hazzard with my friend in her orange Challenger while running the theme in the background.
Laughed pretty hard at the idea of the Dukes of Hazzard bit. +10

Me too. Once I read that, I knew this was a waste of time.

I don't agree with this pointless feeling at all. My ego 300 character is a lot different than my ego 200 character. Everytime I drive toward an arkfall I feel like I'm not only accomplishing something, but I'm doing my own small part inside of a larger community.

    Seriously. Pursuits are not content.
