Pursuit grinding, by comparison, is far worse than gear grinding, getting +5ego for doing a weeks worth of grinding and you have the nerve to use the carrot on the stick expression!!..

A pointless shooter, and the only time sink is a pursuit grind, but as long as it isnt (XP grind) its cool.

    Population is dropping...
Gear grind works because it presents the illusion of getting better, but everything scales up. In any area you're in, your gear is slightly worse than the enemies, until it is slightly better, and finally much better making the enemies trivial. Since you're making most areas trivial with a gear grind, they lock you into farming the same end zone until the new expansion comes out. It works, sure, never said it didn't. If it didn't work, they wouldn't be collecting subscription fees as long as they have.

The lack of obvious/dramatic progression has a reason, and it's for accessibility. Doing it this way means anyone who decides to play one day will hopefully be able to experience the game as well as someone who's been playing for a year. I'm not sure anyone is scared of a grind, but I know a lot of people are bored of it. I certainly am. You want an XP grind, try EQ...that's some ugly grinding.

Pursuit grinding isn't needed, many of those pursuits are meant to be passively obtained, not going out of your way to get them.

When did I use the carrot on a stick expression? I thin you're mixing me up with someone else
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

Not everyone has the same preferences so the reward from entertainment is not to be entertained?

Can you explain the logic behind the above please?

If the actions you take in the game are not things you find entertaining and there is nothing forcing you to participate then you don't bother.
    Bolded the relevant part.

You would only play a game which you do not find entertaining if you were forced to? Kinda backs up my statement that the point of it is entertainment...

Entertainment is really any positive experience. You start to encounter confusion if you try to imagine entertainment is entertaining. An action (sitting on the couch and paying attention to a movie, the act sex, winning an argument, climbing a mountain, etc.) becomes entertainment if you do it for fun. Like people who complain about mmos because they don't enjoy the required farming don't find it entertaining. Ask an old ***** if they enjoy sex, might get an interesting response.

Disney Land is a place where people are entertained. That makes it entertainment but entertainment is not the act and reward. Entertain is a very vague verb because it can be literally anything that provides entertainment.

    For your reckless bolding:

Sure. If say, Defiance driving was ****ing awful (Which it's not), and the only way to reach a fun fight was to drive. I would drive because I was forced to in order to reach fun content. It's not a far stretch is it?

Other possible ways to enjoy running:

Avoiding trips to store for bigger pants.
Passing fitness tests required to continue enjoyable job.
    Avoiding early death.

    or my personal favorite:

Eating whatever I want and drinking way too much beer without gaining weight because I need 3000 calories a day not to lose weight anyway :P

And? Not to be disrespectful but what's the point of this thread?

Now thinking about it, I think the severe logical issues created when you define a word with that same word (didn't anyone ever tell you to avoid that?) arise in the case of trying to claim entertainment is entertaining. Once you're forced to define entertainment in other terms it becomes more of a subjective and perception oriented question where act A appeals to person A and grants them a positive outcome but person B gets nothing positive out of act A.

He said something about me being wow clone minded. Which is funny since even when I played WoW I took breaks after bosses died the first time or two. I don't like farming for loot for its own sake.
