Yeah did these twice they are a absolute nightmare to level, really don't know what devs were thinking by not adding a X multiplier for weapon xp on weapons with lower then average dps.
There is really only two ways to do this while keeping some of your sanity intact.
1: Hulker (San Quentin or Aegis one)
2: Scrapper Scorpions (Most of the Scrapper dynamic missions spawn them at some point)
Go here with a Stingray:
Go through the mission until you get to protecting the Echelon guy, then let him die. Once he is down, clear skitterlings until you get a mob of 10 spawning outside the wall and no other skitterlings in the area. Kill your way over to the skitterlings and kill 9 of them. Once you've eliminated every other enemy currently aggroing you and are at the hole in the wall the 10 skitterlings charge through and you have the last skitterling about, kill it and aim your BMGs out of the wall, then once the mob respawns just unload into em. The BMGs hit multiple skitterlings at once (so you get more weapon experience). Furthermore the group respawns just in time for a quick recharge to finish (about 3 seconds).
I farmed my weapon type kills here (other than bolt action) and my ability kill here and it is by far the best killfarm in the game I know of and the best spot to grind any weapon experience for AoE type weapons.
2 Players using BMGs together can also grind out the 5k kills of mobs damaged by another player pursuit for living to kill V (and I would totally be willing to do this) because the skitterlings take multiple hits to kill.

Make sure it can bounce for sure. I was using a tele-spanner at first in PvE. What a mistake, lol.
It seems like a decent AE damage when solo. I may try it out at Sutro Tower event, where you get constantly respawning enemies that rush in waves.

Tele-spanner is easily the best for this unless you are farming those skitts, the extra charge time and range makes a big diffrence.
Have tried to skitt farm myself, and it is highly effective, though it never occured to me to use it for assists.
Co-op missions. Have people carry your ***. Motherlode, go.
motherlode? nah, for weapon xp scrapyard is far superior.
the scrapper forges (yellow core gives sweet crits and damage = weapon exp) and Hulkers mainly.
