Likely a bonus to how much Ark salvage drops when you kill/accomplish stuff. Ark Salvage is a type of currency found in the game which is used in quite a few different ways, from modding gear to buying stuff.

more than likly you start out with say 1000 of it instead of starting with none
You get ark salvage through killing things, and completing events/quests.

You also gain it from salvaging unwanted / wanted weapons. im up to 8k at the moment.
Dunno if its a good idea to sell weapons or salvage yet.. its a bit weird having 4 currencies. works. but just getting used to it
It's not a bonus to drops, it's just a lump sum (I didn't pay attention to how much it was). The item shows up in your marketplace claims area.
