The consistancy of this game drives me bat**** crazy. One second the AI and aiming is so good that you die in less than a second with no chance for tactics AT ALL while other times they get stuck behind a door, rock, tree, building, etc. and can't shoot their way out of a paper bag.

Yeah and whats up with using a sniper rifle and not getting a hit. The hit detection sucks donkey***** at anything over 50 meters while they can snipe with an smg at over 100 meters.

The AI that use grenades are just amazing, you're 3 buildings away in cover? no problem, they will land them at your feet, standing on a ledge 3 CM thick? also no worries here, they could land it on a dime if they wanted.
Grenade aiming isn't all that hard though, honestly. I've been consistently hitting enemies behind cover, and very frequent headshots with sticky/instant detonators from mid-range. Then again, I've been training more with detonators/grenade launchers than proper guns.. My three issues with grenades, is that sometimes they refuse to properly detonate on higher enemies (unless you're using sticky ones), and I can't seem to ever find the detonator type I want, and the pathetically low ammo supply..

Raiders are actually all ex SF Giants players with no other way to make a living and pay Bay Area rent now that the stadium is gone.

Which sniper rifle are you using? I've never had an issue with my bolt action ones..

It's called aimbot. They need to nerf it and improve enemy AI instead. I've never seen aimbot this bad outside of hackers in PvP shooters (Correction, I've seen enemies with better X-Ray vision, but not this high of accuracy. Especially painful when you run into elemental SMG enemies.)

Edit: All of this said, dealing with swarms of aimbots instead of a few intelligent storm troopers is still fun and challenging, it's just not how a good shooter game should be designed. A weird puzzle game where you have to determine the best path and order to kill your way through enemies to get to the next piece of cover before your health drains, sure.

They're the most elite enemy in the game and even from a story point of view they are battle hardened veterans with some of the best equipment imaginable. I would expect nothing less. However, their defensive maneuvers are less effective than eg. 99ers. The basic grunt has a lot more health than players though.

They don't really headshot. It's simply that all snipers deal that amount of damage.
Different kind of sniper mobs deal roughly the same damage, but aim quicker the further you are in the game.

I use detonators a lot as well and my aim is a lot better. :P
Blacklungs are a breeze, only nasty if you fight other mobs while there's one tossing grenades at you and you're using a weapon that needs to be aimed down.

The trick here is you first have to realize that the crosshair is a tiny bit off to the right (meaning the grenade hits in the left side of the crosshair), which has quite a bit of effect at longer ranges.

Next thing is to learn and practice how parabolic fire works. What hight you have to aim hit the targeted distance is pure practice and the ability to imagine the travelling arc before shooting - no trick here.
VOT detonators behave a bit different and are comparably inaccurate on rougher terrain, but very nice to use otherwise.

If you use a cluster detonator learn to understand where you have to aim when targeting moving mobs. Knowing the time between detonation and damage is key here and aiming at the mob directly will yield terrible results.
Also, aiming at Hellbug Archers directly makes clusters bug sometimes and detonate far behind the mob, where the grenade would have landed if the mob wouldn't have intercepted it. Aim at the ground below the Archer.

Aiming at the ground between the legs of a Monarch will let you hit his belly.

The same things are also true about the Cluster Shot and North Star Flare ... the crosshair error is a lot more impactful here however, since the damage radius is a lot smaller and weapon and crosshair type don't exactly line up.

    @Era:
The very firm aim on Dark Matter mobs is not because the AI is stupid, but a balance between accuracy (high) and rate of fire (low).
It's simply a question of mob DPS, not mob behavior and the way it's done lets us run from cover to cover and return fire to single out targets a lot easier than the medium accuracy & standard rate of fire mobs would allow.
The only mobs that really need work in the AI department are Sktterlings (added aggression my ***!), Mongrels and elite Mattocks armed with shotguns.
Some humanoid mob types even dodge away from your grenades (happens regularly with 99ers and cluster launchers) or roll into cover if there is any nearby.

I just hope we get the Option to raise the drawing distance soon, i am sick of getting shot at by enemies i can't even see (especially bad with some of the dark matter Events).

And i wish they would remove the triple shot from the hellbug blast pods, i have no idea who thought that amount of damage is ok. If you want to have a realyl fun time do the Event where you have to destroy some Pheromone disdensers and after that poison the the pipes. On the last step they spawn 5+ blast pod and a bunch of archers all around you, worst Mission part i ever saw.
