I'm just unlucky. I don't notice anything from the tiny bonus on weapons. I played the story bosses with an EGO 0 weapon. That's arguably the hardest pve stuff in Defiance. Progression has to be reflexive. If I have no problems with 100 damage weapons and then get a 105 damage weapon then what is the point exactly.

Progression is not just player power.

You said it all in just your 2nd sentence: "yeah it might be small and non noticeable."

That's the whole problem, at least for me.

There is a power progression its just how you mod and what bonuses and synergys the weapon might have. I have a Votan pistol 230 something dmg not sure really but I put a mod 2 aim dmg/hip dmg bonus on it it had a crit bonus of 1.30 on the weapon. I also put a stock that lowered the bloom and accuracy buy -.90 which made it prefect. I am rank 6 in pistols and have those bonuses so my dmg is fast and high I also run a bmg that has heal mods and I run decoy so I am more of a combat medic for my group. But I can deal alot of dmg fast and have ranked 1st in many arkfalls and co-op maps with this set up.

If the challenge doesn't increase, it's hard to notice player power progression.

Yeah it might be small and not noticeable(You answered your own question), but I see it in alot of thing from Perks to synergy to weapon rank/level. Which if you really look close you can pretty much set yourself to be any role needed in a group at any given time. Where do I see this well lets start with weapon skill rank/Level with most of these increases you get a minor bonus to something that falls into a class type from DPS/Healer/Tank almost but you have to look at the bonuses to see what they are and this goes with perks to and synergy's.

So you say all weapons are the same yes they are(Yes, they are.) does not mean they don't progress because I see it and I am only ego 700(Explains why you feel this way, wait till atleast 1500+). Which is funny cause most weapons start to see the difference in them through the bonuses and synergy's they get as you go up in ego they get better based on color not all the time but most of the time you can see the difference. So they do get better also in mod slots to and so on do they max I have no idea yet not there but I am sure they do.

Now I also see alot of where do you get synergy mods well they are in mod lock boxes is where I get mine mostly and they are random so you will need resources for this to. You will need to match the synergy's with the ones on each item so lets say assassin with assassin and so on to get them to unlock so you can mix and match based on loadouts you want.

Now on to class roles through powers and perks. Yeah you can see this its right there in there discription that they are roles that you kinda choose at the start of the game. You do get to unlock them all in time so you will become every role/class. The decoy is more of a cc/healer or crowd control/healer role and then you have you hard hitting dps with blurr and stealth and then you have a mix of dps tank in overcharge and also a minor tank role with decoy. But you can really pull off some amazing things with the perks to make you anything you want to be from a tank/healer to a dps healer or even a dps tank its up to you to decide.

See this game is about team work(No it isn't? LOL) but everyones new and still learning the game and are bored cause they only see the minor things not what they can really become or do with there characters. I have been seeing all kinds of different types of characters ranging from stealth killers to heavy dps tanks to light dps heavy healing to a mix of it all it depends on the player yeah the games easy at times but all games are even hard core raids become easy with time. But with what I have seen and been learning the game has alot of potential to become alot more when people start to see all the things you can do with synergy's perk and mods that we will start seeing people asking if you can run healer or dps for this co-op map to more verity in shadow wars and even pvp based on this stuff.

So thanks for reading this it was not a rant just showing the game does have alot to it(I thought the same thing when I was very low level) it just takes time to see it and with higher tired mods you can get some amazing bonuses even better if the weapon already has the same bonus. So I say this one last time this is not a rant or me complaning about others just showing what I have learned so far.
How many times have you ever said any of the following whilst playing Defiance?:

    - Wow I can't wait to get to Level X to unlock that beast skill!
    - Damn, I need to level up so I can use that gun!
    - Holy cow, when I get to Level X I'm gonna be so OP!

Because personally I have never said any of the above whilst playing Defiance, and I am now EGO 3000+.

Sweet jeebuz, over 2k EGO, over 3K ego!? How many times did you do "damn defense" ?

On a more serious note, im trying to "EGO up" but most pursuits dont interest me, leveling up on the other hand does so i could have more 'builds' to choose from when need be. Also there seems to be minor gear improvement as ive leveled up, ~800 EGO atm and feeling stuck.
