I'm not saying that you won't be able to hit things and that your weapon will be completely broken. As I said earlier, I already put scopes on all of my guns before I knew about the problem, and I still kill things fine. I'm just letting you know that scopes (for the time being) do make your guns less accurate. It is a fact, and I do not recommend using them because of it.

Trion does know about this and are working on it, but for the time being do NOT use scope mods on your guns.
Are you dumb? I actually think a scope should increase accuracy. Now if you think the opposite and if you think Trion should or would fix this then you're strange.

I remain confused about how this accuracy thing affects my kills.

I add a scope to a sniper rifle, I aim at somebody's head at max distance, when the dot is in the right place I pull the trigger, and if the damage is high enough I get a kill. I rarely have the scope's dot on something and get a clean miss. Does this accuracy thing affect non-snipers more?...

In most games you would be correct, but in Defiance accuracy is done a bit differently. The number represents how much the shot deviates from the center. So 0 accuracy is a perfectly straight shot. Therefore, when the scopes increase that number (instead of decreasing it like they are supposed to) they make your weapons less accurate as the shot deviates more.

It's not as bad with sniper rifles as they were designed to work with a scope and have really low accuracy numbers. But it is there. I first noticed the issue because I was missing perfectly lined up shots on stationary mobs by a noticeable amount. Example: Crosshairs sqaure on the nose of a mutant, and the shot hits the wall above his right shoulder.

It is worse though for stuff like LMGs and ARs.

Of course it depends on the mod too. The base white ones won't make much of a difference, but a tier III (what I have on the aforementioned sniper) will be more noticeable.

I noticed that my LMG sucked for hip firing after a scope was put on it.

For the few of you doubting his just check a gun that has a built in accuracy bonus, its a negative number, and the scopes have a positive.

Some of you may not notice depending on your skill or weapon of choice but the OP is correct.

Put on a LMG and shoot from the hip then add a scope and do it again. Its less tightly bundled.

Maybe its only effecting certain people but seems like with the stat itself listed wrong this would effect everyone.
