Account sharing (in most MMOs, not sure about this one) is usually listed as a no-no in the EULA/TOS.
It is not illigal as soon as all players bought a copy of the game as this entitles them to play as long as you don't break the code of conduct - which then could get you banned and then account sharing would be at odds with the EULA.
There was some turulence about this topic some years back with WoW.
For example a friend does dailies for multiple of her friends almost daily on their accounts, can keep the gold and we (well, me not anymore) promise her the first of rare mount drops and provide gems and enchantments in return.
Here with a subscription free MMO things are even simpler, since paying once for the game entitles you to access to the game until it shuts down, you die or you get yourself banned because of COC infractions (in which case btw technically not the player gets banned, but his/her account suspended).
    You misunderstand.

Account sharing isn't against the EULA/TOS in many MMOs because the developers are (for example) worried about your friends playing on a copy of the game they themselves didn't pay for, causing the developers to feel like they're getting ripped off. That's not what makes it illegal.

What makes it illegal is the fact that sharing accounts increases the amount of support tickets the studio has to deal with. How? Because CS spends far too much time as it is having to deal with hacked/stolen accounts and restoration requests. And that's when you think just one person (you) has your account info. But when two, three, or four+ friends of yours have your account information the risk of account theft rises sharply. Not because your "friends" are going to steal your account (although they might), but because every person that has their hands on your account information is another potential weak point a hacker, trojan, malware etc can exploit.

That's not even touching on the "I didn't know my friends were using my account to also farm and sell gold..", or "I didn't know my character was constantly swearing in-game while PvP'ing on my account, because that was my friend at the controls..", or any other nonsense that can happen when you are not in control of your character 100% of the time. All of those support issues add up fast.

So, it's pretty simple: The more people who have your account information, the more likely your account will be compromised, and the more likely support is going to have to deal with the problem you ultimately created. And they would rather not deal with it. So, it's easier just for them to nip that in the bud and say "don't share your account or we'll ban it" and avoid the hassle altogether. And its as simple as adding the appropriate text in the EULA/TOS.

You're talking about sharing accounts in WoW.. Blizzard is 100% against account sharing and will ban you over it if they find out you're doing it.

I don't get what the point of advancing your ego further than necessary to unlock the loadouts, ego perk slots, and just the perks you want. Doesn't seem to function for anything else.

No idea how someone is near 5000, lol. Curious to know who, what methods they use and what platform they're on.

Somehow they must have Maxed out almost every Weapon Skill, got to 260 EGO Points already and done almost every pursuit including the "Kill 5000 X" ones.

Honestly, no idea how they've done that so fast, but well played!
Didn't you just (unwisely, in my opinion) advertise some horribly unbalanced method of earning XP ridiculously quick just a few days ago (after being frustrated that it wasn't properly fixed upon its return to the game)? Of all people, you're kind of the last person I expected to see being surprised by this announcement. Were you thinking players would just pass up on your advice?

How is that possible to hit 5000 already?

Half of the pursuits don't work, the contracts reset twice a day, the servers go belly up, you get kicked out of pvp matches constantly, co-op bosses glitch so you can't finish them.. and so forth.

I've done the kill 100 people in pvp twice now yet I've only gotten 2/50 kills on waterfront. I get 10-15 kills per match, yet still only got 2/50 kills in my pursuits.

I need to reach Cerberus rank 5 to finish a pursuit, yet it remains "unfinished" even though I'm at rank 6 already.

And the list goes on and on ...

There are known leveling spots in the game that give you fast xp for almost no time spent spend a few days there and you will cap out your xp then you only have Pursuits to worry about I don't see how people are 5000 seeing how the pvp pursuits are bugged currently. After a certain point you stop getting XP and you have to do the pursuits.

There was a place in the game were you could exploit and get 20,000 XP in 30 seconds over and over and over. Glad to see Trion is giving props to people who exploited their way to 5k EGO. They should know better as the Devs of this game that 5k EGO is not possible without exploiting at this point.

I'm not going to argue something I haven't seen, but. Mathematically, is it possible if you take all the working pursuits, weapons/vehicle skills, and whatever else counts, to break 5k.
