The only thing I can think of, besides the obvious hacking/modding...is all the hotshot, rampage and time trial challenges. Most are over in about 2-3 minutes and worth 2000+ xp if you do well. I've been wondering if thats how people are 'boosting'. There were known exploits in quite a few of them. Have you seen the leaderboards? Dear god when you get 10 times what is required for gold - I think something is wrong. I know I was able to swap to my regular loadout in the beginning on a few of the hotshots and rampages. If you are doing rampages and getting 150+ kills every 2-3 minutes (as boring and repetitive as it might be) with an XP boost you could rank up fast. I know I went up over 250 ego while working on the Racing Pro pursuits. Another thing that comes to mind is the glitches in co-op. In the beginning, sometimes I would loose connection while in a co-op mission - yet after signing back in would have the results screen pop up with my name on it some 20 minutes later - giving me XP and credit for finishing. It is possible that people were joining and quitting repeatedly during this time to rack up xp for co-op missions they never did. However they did it, it wasn't as simple as just playing the game as it was intended. 5000 just isn't realistic in a little less than a month.
