Side missions suffer from the same issue that arkfalls do. All variations on the same stuff.

I mean how many times can you push "e" or "x" on something. So variety and changing things up will no doubt be one of their challenges.

Hopefully the show provides some inspiration here.

Well, repetitive side quests of that nature are unfortunately the standard for almost all MMO's. Go from point A to point B, press "e" here, kill these enemies, so on and so on. This game isn't very innovative in that respect.

I can say in its defense, though, that killing a bunch of enemies over and over is at least more fun with combat mechanics that involve more than standing near an enemy and spamming some attack over and over again. Taking out a group of hellbugs among some ruined buildings, for example, plays different from a gunfight by the roadside. That said, it could really benefit from some variety anyway.

Incidentally, I would have to say that my favorite type of quests are the holdout ones where you have to make a stand and survive for a certain amount of time. Maybe they can even add a co-op arena where you and 3 others survive as long as you can against endless waves.

I agree, those are the two aspects I really like about the game. Plus the driving part in a sandbox. Everything else feels rather mediocre or sub-optimal, though. Loot system, PvP, quality of missions, social tools (basically none), a story that doesn't "grab" me, no sense of progress, cumbersome interface, etc.

Getting the combat right is usually where other games fail (for me, I'd include Rift here, it never felt "right", always a bit inaccurate and unresponsive -- WoW did that better, as far as hotkey-based combat feedback is concerned), so I find it a little "argh!" that they didn't manage to do the easier parts better.

^This definitely for me as well. I really enjoy the random team-ups. You go to an area intending to try it solo, but there are two or three others that probably had the same thing in mind. Seemless transition into a group to accomplish the mission together, no grouping to queue for an instanced mission...really enioy that. The normal co-op instances are fun as well, but the dymanic events and random groupings without all the formal steps is appealing to me.

I agree about the combat and coop, which is why I think lots of people really like the game.

As mentioned, most MMOs have boring combat. Which is derived not only from boring mechanics on the player side, but boring AI and situations on the mob-side. I mean, most just have mobs that run up to you and start melee. Here, we have nice gunplay that typically requires cover, etc. And it's not always the same, depending on the mob types and environment.

I am much less bored in here with combat that is enjoyable, than in other MMOs that have combat I don't find interesting, and have to use loot to keep people interested. Someone on these forums stated that they don't mind grinding dull encounters and combat as long as they get loot out of it. Well, that isn't me, which is why I'm here and not in those other games.

Yea you are right about the killing of mobs being fun. I played wow back in the day, and killing mobs for drops sucked. Talk about a friggin grind. Hit the same sequence of keys over and over and over.

In defiance at least it is fun to evade, shoot, target, whatever.

Yup. Love both of those aspects. So do my guildmates (from other games). The coop "dungeons" are the -perfect- mix of challenging (but not ridculous like GW2 dungeons) and short. I love that you can do most of them in roughly 30 minutes. Thank you Trion!

I'll point out too that this is the one game in forever than doesn't make PUGs feel like a drag. I haven't been in a bad PUG yet. The coops are "PUG-proof", lol.

Both valid points. I especially agree about the time constraints. I prefer shorter ones as I can't always commit to a long raid or whatever.

Thanks for chucking out a nice thread, so much hate sometimes I forget theres alot of guys like me enjoying the game,

Co-Op is alot of fun and the outfits (some) are really ace.
I wonder if its the chat system that makes PUG's better? almost no chat so no one moans, everyone just gets on with it.

I love the bosses in co-op, so far iv never failed, even brand new boss they are not so hard that I cant work out fairly quick what to do. 101 so far was the toughest, shooting the parts at the side got me, seemed like everytime I looked they were closed
