PC: Friends list no longer working

My wife and I play together; today both our friends lists are empty and re-adding one another does not work, and when we do manually join group the 'join phase' quick menu option does nothing.

Steps to reproduce:

Press Escape, hold down Spacebar, choose Social from the radial menu
This list should have at least one account shown since we're on one another's friend lists, but it is currently blank
Click the spyglass in the nav bar, search for your friend's character name or account name
Click Add Friend
The friend add fails.

The same thing happens if we join a group manually by typing a character name in the group request quick menu and then try to add a group member as a friend.

same issue here, logged in and all my friends were removed and we cant add eachother back

this happened to me last night and after about an hour or 2 I saw a popup from the Clan chat saying I logged in and all my friends and clan were back

In addition, the "go to friend" option is no longer available. So since the "join phase" button does absolutely nothing, the one and only reliable way to get a group together with friends/clanmates is now gone. I bought this game to play MULTIPLAYER, i.e. team up with friends. With out the ability to actually occupy the same physical space in game its impossible to play with friends.

I know a half dozen people who are on the verge of walking away from this game for good. I cant believe they released this game with the grouping mechanics so totally borked.

After not able to get in, after the character select screen, I was finally able to get on. I also noticed my friends option is not available.

A buddy of mine sent me a group invite, but I can't "Go to Friends" not an option. He also cannot go to me. it's like we are in different instances.

Just to chime in here, both my son's and my own friends lists have also been emptied. Attempting to party is futile as neither person can travel to the other or join their phase. When attempting to re-add the person to my friends list, the chat window displays the following: [character name] Friend Invite/Response Failed. I have tried logging out and restarting the game, both fruitlessly.
I'll be logging this as a bug once back in game.

i've gotten this to work before me and a friend of mine go to the same place i.e iron demon ranch etc, then we group up and que up for a mission once we get in finish it and get out we're in the same phase.
