So....at what point do we qualify for our money back?

I'm sorry...but Trion really has dropped the ball here with Defiance. This game is so full of bugs, I feel like I'm playing an MMO released by an indy developer with a drug problem. Patch after patch after patch, bugs are half fixed, but dozens more are introduced. This game is becoming unplayable. So with today's bug ridden patch, we lose our friends lists and the ability to port around, we can't phase to join group members nor can we port to group leaders.

WHO is responsible for testing these patches before they're deployed...because honestly...it's time to find a new testing crew.

Welcome to MMO's at launch. Highly suggested that you never play a launch MMO if you aren't willing to take a few bug hits. Best thing you can do is to report the bug so it is sorted and bite through it. Being as this is a free to play game, you can just take a break for a bit and come back after it is all resolved. As for getting your money back. I am not sure on that one ^.^. GL though! And see you later Arkhunters!

The first thing to do is to check and make sure you aren't bleeding. or have any broken bones. the next step is to look outside and make sure the world isn't on fire. No ? then you are fine. Name a game that was 100% free of bugs at launch, there wasn't one.

If you really want a refund, I would recommend getting in touch with support or the place you purchased the game from. Not sure if it'll help, but it certainly can't hurt to lay out your grievances officially and ask for a resolution.

Having said that, I am having a lot of fun in this game and the bugs only irritate me occasionally (I'm more worried about the bugs swarming around my feet than the ones in the game code.) I've played games without bugs that haven't been nearly as fun as this one.

If I were to be completely honest I'd have to say bugs have not really ruined the game for me, I know they are there, I remember encountering them but none of them really are game breaking. I usually move on without even committing them to memory. I don't feel I'm lax or more forgiving at my age, if anything I'm more prone to be put off by the small things and all-in-all I don't feel this game is very buggy. Servers being down and up randomly the first week is about the worst of my complaints. Yes, co-ops bug nightly, the chat system is really inexcusable, I've lost weapons on logout and the menus are not very intuitive and are obviously made for controllers. Sometimes the hit detection is a bit wonky, latency may be a minor issue and the game mechanics are a bit loose still, but I still manage to enjoy it. I didn't buy the game expecting great things, nor do feel any obligation to support Trion or defend the game, but I don't think it's so bad we should receive a refund.

If your retailer won't refund the money, then you never qualify for a refund; you signed over every bit of that by playing the game. Welcome to the world of software, and your lack of ownership on any of it.

I am in total agreement. This is a solo game at the moment. Grouping was buggy before, but its impossible now. My clanmates and I are really on the verge of walking away. We like the game, but we purchased the thing to play together, not solo.

I wonder if you could claim it back via your credit card provider? I know in the UK if you buy something on a credit card and it is not as described or fit for purpose, you can get the money back from the credit card company and they can take it up with the supplier. I have no idea if it would apply if the complaint is a 'buggy game', but it does work for physical goods.

worst problem I've really ran into is mainly the 2 -10 sec lag and the times when i press start on my controller and my load outs don't load occasionally

If you request a charge back, you're committing a fraudulent act. Legally speaking, you paid for a license to access the software. You've gotten what you paid for.

Edit: All that you technically own is the physical material, if you've purchased a box copy. If that copy boots up, installs and runs then it is for all intents and purposes a functioning product.
