For someone who cares about PvP you really dont do much looking into it, my proof would be World of Warcraft, none of there characters are even close to each others heights and ppl still play all of them in PvP matches and for animations you are also wrong about there being any big push on cost seeing how most of the character races have already been made before the launch of the game and if you would do some research threw the forums the game developers where looking into giving the different races bonuses/skills/etc and a lot of other stuff.
Maybe before you tell someone to do some research, you should do some research yourself. Or at least have some common sense of some sort. This is one of the most ridiculous posts I have ever read.
World of Warcraft is not even remotely close to Defiance in terms of gameplay. Defiance is a shooter, while WoW is an RPG. In WoW, character height doesn't matter. In Defiance, a character that's shorter than you is harder to aim at. Not so much that you would be completely disoriented or incapable of aiming, but that extra split-second it takes you to aim downward makes a huge difference. Remember playing Goldeneye on the N64? Oddjob? Ringing any bells?
Animations existing for non-playable characters has nothing to do with animations for playable characters, either. NPCs can do all kinds of things players can't in combat, and most of the alien races don't even appear in combat in the first place, or appear in combat only in a way that is dramatically different from how a player would have control (for example, the liberata bandits with riot shields). The whole point is that races closely resembling humans - Castathians, Indogenes, and Sensoth if scaled slightly down, can use the exact same animations that human and Irathiant models do. Bigger or smaller characters would require new animation sets, even if the result is something that looks almost identical. If you don't understand this, then you don't understand anything about how a game is produced.
Lastly, "research through the forums" isn't research at all. You realize that anyone can post here and say anything they want to, right? Reading something here doesn't make it fact. And in any case, even if the developers did have plans to give racial bonuses - which I don't doubt, mind you - they obviously made the decision not to include them. Thus, including racial traits and balances for future races is incredibly unlikely.
you really have no commonsense, Defiance is not going to be a game where every race is going to be the same size whether or not they are NPC's or real players,if you haven't noticed they have one of the biggest backers you could get for a source of money and further more all character animations, CGI, looks and everything from the basics where made from the start they wouldn't sit there and start a new race from scratch just for a DLC or anything for that matter its pointless to do something like that and for the love of god stop *****ing about PvP sizes in any game type no one cares about the size of your opponent its the way it is fought not the way someone looks
You're completely braindead. Size issues in PvP have nothing to do with "looks." Also there's practically zero chance that they've made player-character animations for every race already. That is nowhere near "the basics." You literally have no idea what you're talking about, so maybe you should just stop talking about it.
Also, by the way, SyFy is nowhere even remotely close to being "one of the biggest backers you could get."
I agree with some portions of each argument, i can see how the size issue might effect PVP but my thought on that is what moderately intelligent person would purchase a game based on a earth that is home to 8 different races (yes i know the entire earth has many more species and races then that but for arguments sake we will say 8) and not expect some variation? I mean, what are the chances that all 8 would be the same size? much less move the same way? i mean seriously, to all those people who are saying that the game designers must do certain things for the sake of keeping PVP balanced need to take a step back and strain the lead out of their water. Lets look at this a few different ways. Lets say they decided to add a shorter race, if this game is supposed to be more about skill then gear, is it really something to whine about that you are going to have to aim at someone the same height as a human crouching? Now lets look at a taller race, is jumping disabled in PVP? no? oh ok so you sometimes do have to shoot at something higher in elevation then you, are all PVP maps a giant field of the same elevation? no? oh ok so you constantly have to aim above and below you? oh ok...so how does the height of a character have anything to do with balance issues in PVP? and as i have stated in every post i do, this is just my opinion, im not trying to call anyone an idiot for theirs or say that it is wrong, just logically it makes no sense how a different sized character could unbalance PVP? so if anyone here can make it make sense as to why height has anything to do with balancing issues please explain it to me

Regardless of which new race they introduce it would be nice to see some different skill perks for the different races instead of just a cosmetic difference.

Id like to see something thats not human looking. I mean the castithans and indogenes are too human looking like the irathients are. Id like to see the voulge, or something more "alien" looking. Otherwise I might be a bit bummeda castithan is just a pale human with a bumby nose. Indogenes would be a step up from castithan but still too close to human to be something some people would pay for if they cant re-spec thier race and would have to start over from the get go.
It could be anything tho and im good with whatever, ill just start another character in addition to the 2 I have now. The way im lookin at it is I got my season pass for free since I bought the ultimte edition to get the 1200bit and messenger bag, in my opinion that messenger bag and bits was worth 50 bucks by themselves. The bag is really high quality and very nice. Not some cheap bag like you got with the special edition of grand theft auto 4. The ones ea sells for dead space and mass effect are 60$ on thier site. So it was def a good deal. Props to the trion marketing team for that!

Just passing through ladies and gentlemen, like what you see? Then speak up.
^ This, the whole hitbox thing..Playing a huge Sensoth will be much different to the rat like Liberata..we'd see a horde of rodent-like PvPers just because of the smaller hitbox.
Perhaps PvP will stay as the province of 'regular' humanoid sized charachters for now. Who knows what Trion have up their sleeve.
