I'm trying to understand what fun you could have by making a weapon that does that, outside of maybe griefing people for a few rounds, I figure you'd be cheating yourself out of the 59 dollars you paid to play game. I guess it's understandable if you have no talent at playing the game. I know a game based upon skill would draw out the worst kinds of players. Typically games that require skill do, they suck so instead they find cheap ways to play the game.

The saddest part is this game isn't even hard to play lol.

But then they wouldn't have their name on top for kills and dmg done, and might actually die once or twice... can't have that...

For me personally it ain't about stats but pure nerdrage, but that's offpoint here. Once again I bringing this to the public. Our cheats will make people mad but people still play the game, this client sided weapon stats destroy the game and that's something we don't want from an ethical, financial, fun point of view.

    Devs fix your game seriously

so you break the game to get the devs to fix the game, what kind of backward logic is that? You drive away paying customers that could add in money to help get things fixed, because you want to get things fixed.

Na I'm gonna say you are full of crap and only enjoy being a bag to other people online, you couldn't care less about the state of the game. It's the same as people who fly around invincible in World at War, they just enjoy making themselves look better. In reality they just look like the untalented, skill less gamers they really are. It's unfortunately because I know no matter what anyone does crap like this will plague every online game made now and in the future.

Using cheats to win in a game doesn't mean you are great, it means you suck. Turn off the hacks and get owned 1 - 15 like you would if the hacks weren't there. Clinging to ur cloak and shotgun... still getting owned.

The funniest part is how many people call it QQ when people bring up the exploits possible in the game. I'm not sure if they're trying to highlight how ignorant they are, or are hackers trying to protect their own incompetence in actually playing the game.

Obviously not referencing OP, since they are trying to highlight a rather glaring error in game design; but it does make you wonder in some of the other threads.

If I would truly do it to be a 1337 pro gamer then I would be less obvious, don't make vids and post them out in public. If you only knew how many closet cheaters there are in games...

The one on the topstats who you think are great players are 50% cheaters who hide it well (I know a lot of them)
Think of me what you want, I'm above internet rage, but it does bring attention to an issue that needs fixing ASAP

so you know already no matter what they do it won't make a difference because no game is hack proof. So whatever step you want them to take wont make a difference anyway. Also I always assume anyone in the game doing better than me is a hacker/modder. It shouldn't be that way, but unfortunately it is. That's the bane of online gaming, it's why I detest online gaming. Filled with hackers/modders/cheaters and scumbags. You keep up the faith about using hacks to stop hacks...

but dude, Newsflash: A hack doesn't require any files like you are talking about.
    Touche.

I still stand by the files not being verified, which is an issue even if you couldn't modify memory - which I'll admit I should have considered before posting.

Meanwhile though, at least the thread has given me some ideas on projects to work on when not gaming or playing with VMs

Using checksums for game files wouldn't stop a damn thing, sorry op, you clearly have no idea how hacks work.

They don't change the games files one iota, they change data in memory once the program is running, or change the processes in memory responsible for the data. Programs like punkbuster work by creating a resident process, loaded before the OS kernel that looks for known hacks in memory while your game is running. Punkbuster enabled servers can also ask the client on your pc to take a screen shot that is submitted for checking. Its a constant process, find new hacks add their detection to punkbuster, look for the hack once its changed a week later, but this does nothing for unknown hacks.

There are other counters that I am not going to discuss here; suffice to say they have nothing to do with checksums.
Mankind's greatest weakness, and greatest strength, hope.
