This car probably doesn't run on what we expect it too. These run off a different fuel and probably different engines.
They are just using dodge bodies. The engines would sound different.
Maybe it runs on petrohol (the fuel made from hellbug waste powering some of the quads). Maybe it runs on something different... but even if they have some clever reason why it doesn't sound like an original Challenger, there's no reason to make it sound worse. It's just a ridiculous sound and maybe something went wrong with the compression but I'd really like to see it replaced with something more oomphy sometime in the future.

Funny how people say it doesn't sound like it should which in this case would be correct. I think it's part of the lore of course a car isn't going to sound how one should in Defiance. The vehicles are now hybrids of old Earth tech with some Votanis tech so of course the engine isn't going to sound like one in real life.

Thanks. Couldn't remember the new fuel name. I agree it sounds bad. I was just coming up with a reason it doesn't sound like what we'd expect. It also explains why this thing isn't much faster than a 4 wheeler or a little dune buggy. It should be much faster by comparison I'd imagine.

Remembered a great example of vehicle sounding way different in the future.

The fact is, unless the devs tell us, we have no idea how much resources/time such a change would take. We really don't know exactly how their teams are built up (they might have a team dedicated to sounds and all things audiorelated). Nor do we know how they organize things within the dev team(s).

Still, I would not mind better sounds for the challenger. They might have recorded the sounds from a real dodge challenger but it's certainly not the kind of sounds you'd hear from a dodge challenger that was actually driving..

The game has moved from the development phase into the maintenance phase and that means they don't have as many people currently working on it. So for every silly request like this that people make that would mean another issue would have to take a back seat while they work it.

My point is that i want them to fix the real issues before working on the fluff. Once they get those done then have at it, feel free to make silly sound file changes for a fake vehicle that has no real tie to an actual vehicle at all other than name alone.
No, I see your point and I agree entirely with your point. There are other more pressing matters then adjusting the audio that need attention. I was simply stating it doesn't take moving mountains to change an audio file like some here seam to think.

This isn't a bug, it's an asset swap; there is no coding involved depending on how they implemented the audio and would only cost whatever their audio export would cost (I assume they've at least 1 on salary that they can put on his TODO list). So the time it would take is completely relative to their usage. So for arguments sake we're both right and leave it at that. I don't know how they've coded the game or how they run their business so we can really just leave it at that.. there is no 1 way to do things and the things they teach in those classes aren't relevant to the real world.. just like most classes as I've learned rather quickly after being in the industry.

Not sure, am not a car person but this is probably right as the cars likely wouldn't sound the same in the future due to different fuel usages and exhaust changes. So lore wise it makes sense to not sound like the real thing.
