The issue I have with Angry Joe is that he practically joygasmed all over GW2 in the review I saw months ago. GW2 was crap, and it was the first MMO I gladly got a refund from the publisher on (yes, ArenaNet offers no-hassle refunds via their support center).

His opinion of a good game and my opinion of a good game are apparently light years apart.

Well..if Defiance were to be given a review based on its first few weeks..It would get about a 4...out of 10.

it may be somewhat fun to play, but the constant, and I mean CONSTANT issues with the co-op maps, the repetitive absurdity of the side missions, the complete lack of any kind of weapons progression, and well..its not a 8+ game, that's for damn sure.

A weapon that's picked up at ego 950 should NOT be the same as a weapon picked up at ego 9. And the fact that the mods being sold at coops ranch are all Level 1, when i'm ego 900..its just absurd. It really needs to scale based on whose doing the shopping. When, or even if, I ever max out the achievements, I'm pretty much done I think.
April 27..Neverwinter open Beta. Sure hope things get fixed before then.

The lack of weapon progression is what makes this game great. It is what also lets everyone group and play together. If it was progression like other games you mistook defiance for the whole game would have to be remade, and there would be restrictions on teaming and areas you can do missions in. I was tired of normal MMO type games where i grind a character up having to find new weapons every few levels along with other gear, then hit max level and then have to grind endless crap to get gear, and then once that's done reroll another char and start all over again. As for the mods sold on vendors being level 1 mods, vendors randomly sell higher level mods just like weapons. Plus you can get mods from missions and key vendor.

and lock boxes.. which your supposed to mainly use to get new weapons anyway...

as well as the mod boxes.. same thing....

Game hasn't been out a month.. people don't even realize how much the gear changes in the higher ego levels with double stats etc...

Just looking at level like 500 shields compared to 900 shields.. yea they are basically the same but one gives damage resistance and a bonus to reloading when shields are broke..

I'm sure they get much better...

Heard of orange grenades that have 0 det time in higher ego levels.

I really don't understand the problem... If you compared this to a regular MMORPG that just came out... It's the same ****... Higher level = better gear.. the difference? You can actually compete with higher level players at a lower level and group up with them etc..

Yea.. they'll do more damage and have more / better perks etc... but its not like comparing a level 20 to a level 90 in WoW... which would take you a very long time to achieve... which to me was a bunch of mindless grinding to get to max level for no real reason at all other than to compete in high level PvP......

This game.. I can enjoy the PvE content... I can go back and do it whenever and not feel like I'm going back to a level 1 zone...

I don't get it.. It's whatever though.. Go Play wow.. go play eq.. lord of the rings.. whatever floats your ****ing boat but it obviously isn't this game...

    More like Angry Joke.

Pretty much the whole concept of Angry Joke . . . I mean Angry Joe. is just yelling, screaming and profanity. The guy is not really worth watching.

Well, unless you are interested in watching someone try very hard (and fail) at being the Sam Kinison and Howard Stern of video games.

To be honest, the only reviewer I will ever care about and want to know what they think is . . . me. That's right me.

I can make up my own mind about stuff.

Speak for yourself, the lack of weapon progression makes it completely uninteresting to get any loot in a highly loot focused game for me. I don't call that great.

Generally speaking, just about every review now doesn't give a game an honest score. Far, far too many get overscored (See: BioShock Infinite vs BioShock) due to hype, and IGN has been confirmed to have publishers pay them off for a good score.

That guy doesn't like MMO's though. He's a real heavy console gamer and likes anime. I watch his reviews because they are usual hilarious not because his opinion regarding games is anything somebody should emulate. He could have nailed this game with all of the bugs but instead his review was mostly frivilous complaints.

If you enjoy it then don't care about reviews. there are rare occassions where something gets a lot of bad reviews, and it turns out to be one of my favorites for a while. For some reason, I enjoy this game. It is fun for me. So i play it. I like doing the missions sometimes, but most of all I like the shadow wars and watching for the arkfalls. As long as YOU enjoy whatever it is you do while you're playing, then that's all that matters to you. I love Angry joe, and he tends to explain his reasons for his scores, and he makes valid points. He gave Dragon's Dogma a 7 if I remember right, one of his main peeves being the lack of fast travel (besides the expensive portal crystals) and for me it wasn't an issue but it is a legitimate issue for a majority of players I can imagine. For me it's a personal 8, I loved it, but he had legitimate reasons for the score he gave it and it made sense. It never bothered me, and I was never shocked by it either, nor did it affect my enjoyed of the game nor the amount of time I put into it.

If the opinion of some person other than yourself affects how you experience something, or if you feel you have to defend it's 'honor' as though it were a lady, I won't go all freud on you, but I will say you should spend time reflecting on WHY it matters so much and what is preventing you from just sitting down and seeing how you feel about something through actually experiencing it without analyzing it or comparing it with anything or finding out if others' approve it for you. I play games because they are fun, stimulating, time killers, exciting, or any number of reasons beside someone told me they were okay to play. I have not watched the review yet, but i can't imagine he said anything horrible.
