Give a rich person a common single person studio apartment (flat). I got money they will change **** around. If they are rich enough, greedy enough and weird enough, they might buy the whole floor, rip some walls out and make it one giant place for them and them alone.

Everyone feels comfy in their own way...some people are messy, some are OCD clean freaks, some are middle of the road. They just wanted a taste of home.

Keep in mind that the mineral that the votan use to power their tech isn't native to earth. Part of the Terraforming laces the planet with veins of the stuff to mine.

Lawn. Flora. Fauna. If you're going to travel all those light years, you probably want to make sure you can land on something edible.

I thought that maybe the Votans did not know Earth was inhabited. Or maybe they were planning to live on the moon.

Even though the terraforming was an accident, the fact is that the Votans brought the equipment with them. That means they intended to use it.

So I think it is a good question which raises others - Did they know Earth was inhabited? If they did, why were they planning to terraform it any way? That answer may even reveal their true nature and intent. (yes, I believe they are evil lol)

Terra-forming could add +20% habitable territory: Australia is barely habitable, Antarctica isn't habitable.

Its like that line from the show "This planet has no natural inhabitants so it belongs to everyone." wtf does that even mean?! What the Votans know something we don't? Cos as far I'm aware Humans evolved on Earth and we were here first. More a migration than an invasion my arse! Dirty aliens why don't they feck off and find their own planet.

EXACTLY ...they search out a habbitable planet and drive for how many years with terraforming equipment in the trunk? there had to have been other planets and places along the way ...they drove across the whole damn milkyway(if i remember correctly)

P.S. i did mean in general nothing to do with the story line ;p

"I really don't like the color of these walls" lol anyway the aliens felt this way and made earth more colorful
the hellbugs were just an accident (I believe they ARE cockroches since we've not seen any in the show or game)

Perhaps the terraforming requires the right base materials to work and required the world to have the right characteristics - distance to sun, size, atmosphere? Also they may have had the equipment to use if they found earth wasn't right for them, so they could use it to terraform another world elsewhere but as mentioned there was an 'accident'. Why bother terraforming if the planet was OK to begin with, but why not have the capacity to terraform another rock in case the viewing didn't go well?
Also, now the planet has been terraformed into something that is barely recognizable and life that exists on it came from either another world or the world that it was before, it can be argued that this current world has no natural inhabitants.
