Does anybody have a feeling this game will be dead on arrival ?

I don't think it will be DOA. I do think, like any MMO, it will have alot to prove the first few weeks. You'll know if it is going somewhere after about 2 weeks of launch. SciFy has an extremely bad record of canceling shows without warning leaving the series to end on cliffhangers so I do fear for the tv show side of things. Not that scify makes bad tv but just that they may very well drop the show without warning after 1 season if it doesn't perform regardless of the games performance. One of the risks of this transmedia deal I guess.

Television Networks cancel shows all the time in the middle of the season or on a cliff hanger... Drive, Defying Gravity, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Carnivale, the Cape, the list goes on and on. Fox is by far a bigger killer of shows in their infancy than Syfy ever has been, at least they buy and air whole seasons...

ABC and NBC have been pretty popular for show-killing as of late too. (Zero Hour, Animal Practice, Eli Stone, Journeyman, etc.)

I've been seeing a lot more advertising on websites. One can only hope the reviews go well. This could be a sleeper hit that eventually starts generating a good buzz.

I've seen a lot more advertisement for Defiance, I really don't thing it will be doa maybe the first week it won't be all that good but after the T.V. show starts and people should be like "ERMAGAWD GAME?" and yeah.

That would be good news. I don't want another stargate universe that gets canceled just as its starting to pick up. Allthough At least it freed up Robert Carlyle to do another series that he is much better cast for.

Besides the SyFy network, I don't see alot of adverts except the occasional show trailer. Since it's a new IP, opinion on the game should change when it's released and word of mouth spreads. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

On the subject of canceling shows, SyFy doesn't usually cancel shows in their premiere season. the only network i've known that cancels good shows in the first season is FOX (RIP Firefly, Terra Nova, Alcatraz) So the Defiance show should be safe.

I'm sure you are all over thinking this. Many games weren't well known or liked before release yet some how became a huge deal. I am pretty sure the game will take off on release
