If it turns out good, word of mouth will do it a power of good

No it won't be dead on arrival. The seems to be a lively community here.

For the masses, the reviews will be hugely important. A metacritic score of anything over 80 should bring in a lot of new players.

    Good luck to Defiance!

May seem like a lively community, but split it up into 3 different platforms, take into account the random working/social hours and your MMO feels like an empty ghost town....
I used to be an eager Ark Hunter like you, then i took a "soon" to the ear.

Take borderlands for instance. No one really knew alot about the game until it fully released and nearly had released their first dlc. Then suddenly, game population skyrocketed. Some game dont get popular until after release. Then again, some titles fail horribly after release even though they were huge titles with tons of adverts, take Brink for example. We can only watch and hope for the best.

Another good example of failure with lots of hype. Makes for a pretty infamous game....like Duke Nukem...Lets hope that this one goes on the way of Dark Souls. Success after release.

I have Dark Souls, too slow and boring for me LOL...it's cool and all but meh.. Dragon's Dogma = awesome. Got ripped here in the states because the whole story didn't translate all that well...anyhow...

    back on topic..

I really think that this game has a lot of potential and its up to everyone to hype it up who gets in at ground zero. Word of Mouth is still one of the best forms of advertising...plus if ya have a capture device and a twitch account or youtube blabbity blah blah and wanna take time to show the game off instead of playing it, you can generate some advertising that way as well..

I got a few extra beta keys for some buddies who are curious but unsure about the game. I wanna give them the codes so they can try the beta out without having to buy the game. Hopefully the beta test will be fun enough for them to consider buying the game. I have alotta faith in the game, but every little nudge helps.
