I know this is more of a shooter vs mmo, but mmo players are playing with hopes of more mmo style getting introduced.

So can Defiance make it past the next wave?

TESO and Archage are mmorpgs. They are both fantasy setting mmorpgs.

Defiance is a persistent world shooter mmo.

    Apples to baseballs.

Some people are going to like apples some baseballs and some both and some neither.

But many players play MMO´s no matter what setting. Example, Tabula Rasa. In the same year Age of Conan has been releases and many players left for it for a long time.
In my case, when TESO is released, i will spend some time playing this one.

Wildstar is also coming this year and it's a ''scifi'' action ( you have to aim ) mmorpg.

I will personally be spending time on Neverwinter Online when it releases, then Wildstar and then TESO when it releases. After that, I will stick with either TESO or Wildstar, the one I prefer ( probably TESO, Wildstar looks very similar to WoW in terms of both content and graphics ).

Neverwinter and Marvel Heroes Online are coming shortly, but having beta'd both, I dont think Defiance has anything to worry about.

TESO I couldn't be more uninterested in, because everything that makes the Elder Scroll games unique could never work in an MMO. (True sandbox, mods, etc). That just leaves us with the incredibly dull world background.

Wildstar is an action mmo as much as World of Warcraft was an action mmo.

I know bungie is making Destiny?, that's coming out for consoles?. I don't want one to fail just 'cause another has come out though I like defiance and I'll probably like Destiny. I hope there is alot more stuff added to defiance but it hasn't even been out a month so I hope in time they will add more mmo things in .

SanguineSun is right, we should not compare Defiance with fantasy MMORPG, but guess what?

There is a TON of incoming FPS/TPS MMO and online shooters
    Warface http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xns20s0HULw
    Hounds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I2URKZ5VBg
    Heroes & Generals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvaD71wO_ic
Repopulation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsNV9gLes18 < btw im seriously counting on this one
    Firefall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhiJtotZNWk

Earthrise:First Impact - btw this is resurected game that failed earlier
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hqbv9KjS0Cw
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSd_s5n6844

Grimlands - this one will never make it, it seams
    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...pg-shooter-mmo

    And for consoles - Destiny
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwOUi4JDC4o

And im still waiting mostly for Archeage and Black Desert - a new quality in graphics and returning awesome hardcore gameplay, mostly absent since UO and SWG days

    ArcheAge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2naspighl1E
    Black Desert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNFSw107MQs

Btw Newerwinter Online is confirmed to casual tier **** and it looks thtat TESO will be the same < they even add strict Class in there

I'm waiting for Archeage, BLESS, and EIN. I still feel like I'll dedicate some time to Defiance though. It depends on your mood. Sometimes you wanna shoot stuff in a post apocalyptic world, sometimes you want to hack and slash in a fantasy medieval themed environment.

It will make it by just fine though I have my doubts that it will ever grow beyond a niche market.
