Hi i currently live in Europe but when the game starts i want to play at the American servers since this is where most of my friends will play. Will i be able to do that with the European version of the game?
Also the same rules applies for the beta?

The consoles will link to the region servers they are set to. You will most likely need to create a US account to play with your US based friend.

During the livestream, they said you could connect to whatever server you wanted, iirc.
I have an US account as well , as it is my original account but since i've moved here i started using an European one since they games i buy here are a different region so when i need to get DLCs or using codes from pre orders i need an European account.
And my point is in some games doesnt matter which account are you on as long as the key or DLC is on that PS3 ,but for other games like DCUO being on different accounts will stop you from using that DLC.
Thts because most games the DLC is tied to your ps3, not your account, but DCUO is an online mmo, so the DLC is tied to the psn account you use for the game, same will likely be Defiance.
You have 3 options here.
1) Just play on your EU account and make some new friends, you and your US buddy won't be playing together.
2) Play on your US account with your buddy, you will be able to buy DLC on the US store by either buying US psn cards or using paypal on your US accounts(I live in Australia and do this all the time with games I import from the US, its pretty simple)
3) Play on both your EU AND your US account, buying DLC for both accounts respectively, obviously this option is the most expensive of the 2.
I got lucky, I'm assuming since there are only US and EU servers, Australians will be on EU servers since both games are PAL, so even though I will be importing the UK version of te Ultimate Edition, I can still play with my AU mates.
Region 1 US DLCs doesnt work for Region 2 Europe games ,the DLCs and game need to be the same region . So by not being able to got into american server with an european game would require me to get a region 1 game and i would like to know that before game release so i can buy the game accordingly
Yes you have to have the American game to get on the American servers and use American DLC.
You could wait for the full game on psn if you don't wanna import, I'm pretty sure its day 1 digital.
