well the former is done already, as far as I know.

the latter remains to be seen.

either way, this game will be fine in the long run, at least for consoles.

    PC could go either way.

They're planning the second series. They haven't announced the second series, and Syfy hasn't officially picked up the second series.

They planned the second series of Kings on NBC, even recorded the entire first season, but ****canned it before all of the episodes even aired.

If only one version would survive, though, it's obviously going to be the PC version. Trion doesn't have to worry about certification on PC, and it's their home turf.

Not to mentioned PS3/X360 are condemned to die in November-- it just takes a console a while to go away. On that note, they haven't announced next-gen console releases for Defiance.

I would say this game has some major issues holding it back. Lack of content is a major one. I love the gameplay, the concept and the world they've created. Heck, I even love the show. Still, it shocks me that this game went live lacking basic mmo requirements like an auction house, a bank and a mail system. Also, I can say for myself I was very much looking forward to pvp in this game. I figured that seeing as it was a shooter that it would be pretty well balanced and not have the issues other mmos have had with pvp. Anyone who has spent any time in pvp knows that's not the case at all. There are very few effective weapons and build for competitive pvp, also only 2 active maps right now that are very small.

Over all I just find myself getting bored. I'm at about 1400 ego and I just find myself sitting around most of the time. The co-op maps are okay, but over all just kinda boring and seeing as theres no real chance for good loot in them I'm rarely motivated to do them. I mean would it have been that bad to let the last boss always drop a 1 purple per player with a small chance for a orange? I mean as of right now what's the point? I understand that you want people to buy locked boxes, but you're making your own content pointless.

The pvp is what I had planned on doing once I got to end game, but you can only do the same maps so many times and you get a single key for a match. Plus its 95% shotty vs shotty. Shadow wars are the only thing I have a ton of fun still doing and once again, you can only do so many before you get burnt out.

The last thing that tweeks me out is the weapon leveling system. It shocks me that it went live like this. You finally find a gun you like and you get to use it for 2 hours maybe? Then switch it out for a crappy weapon because you get no more weapon exp from it!

Over all I can see this game going places but they're really going to have to push out content at a crazy rate. People won't just wait around forever. There needs to be more rewards for instanced content. There needs to be a AH, mail, and a bank. Reward people for completing content and stop trying to force people into your in game store. Put out a few more maps for pvp and add some kinda leader boards or something. Give people a reason to play the game after you finished the main story, because as of right now the only thing there is to do is to slowly grind keys for a very very very small chance for rare equipment. Also the ui needs a reworking, because its just outright bad now. I end up selling guns for scrip just because I don't feel like clicking 30 items to get more resources. Speaking of scrip give us something useful to spend it on! I have 200k! I've never played a mmo where I felt like I had too much in game money.

Maybe you "planned" on doing research before you made this post. Maybe you "planned" on having an idea on what you were taking about. Or maybe you simply "planned" a lot wrong.

Putting the show in production for season 2 easily says it is well past the "planning" stage. Production is a big commitment of money and resources. SyFy investing that much it's safe to say they are past the "planning" stages at this point.

The date of article in the link above is 03-16-13. Just letting you know in case you did not "plan" to read the article.

But after reading your post I felt the need to "plan" out the truth for you and "planned" on providing a citation so maybe next time you would also "plan" on at least the slightest bit of researching before looking not very informative and trying to "plan" on putting others down with your post.

If you "plan" on some further reading . . . here you go.

Nice commitment of money and resources. Still not officially picked up-- ratings are going to determine that, nothing else.

The game probably would have done a lot better if they had not released it on the PC. It's obvious that Trion wasn't really serious about the platform, and maybe just figured it would boost sales a bit, but I think it's done more harm than good.

Or only released it for PC. I think we can both agree they bit off more than they could chew with a 3 console 6 region release.

Personally, I think Trion needs to limit their projects so they can concentrate on keeping the quality level up. Up until now, all they had to focus on was RIFT and it turned out well. Add more games to support and the focus gets split. I hope they know what they are doing.

Like some of the replies here already stated, what keeps people playing this game is its combat. Its just generally more fun than tab targeting and hitting keys in sequence. However, in most other aspects of the game it falls short in comparison to other AAA title. Same, rehashed environment, little sense of progression, repetitive quest design throughout, and worst of all the almost non existent social aspect, etc. If it wasn't for the combat this game I think would have tanked.
