I always find it amusing to see just how many developers, programmers, lawyers, and females willing to show their boobs hang in forum chats.

I've been a supporter of this game, though I will readily call a spade a spade, as the cliche goes.

At this stage, my patience with Defiance is also starting to thin.

If you are truly a programmer, and a game developer, then you would already understand that problems like this RARELY EVER appear in isolation or unit tests, Testing for an issue that may or may not exist, without knowing that it potentially exists, and would not exist in a unit test or isolation test, is impossible.

Humans are flawed, as is the code they write. Its a fact of life. Not every glitch and bug can be solved in the blink of an eye.

You don't run a unit test. No automated test will catch these glitches. You run a real world test using testers. That's the purpose of having a test team. I hire them all the time for my projects. It's an extremely simple process. I assume this being a weekend they have no one on hand. If that's the case then after first shutdown it should've stayed down long enough to analyze logs (I assume they have properly coded source to log every fail scenario, I always do) and perform a test with whoever is available at the time. The purpose of the logs are to isolate the testing area so a small test team can attempt to reproduce fairly easily and quickly.. remember this is a server failure.. not a client failure.. significantly different debugging and testing situations.. server failures are much easier then isolated client issues to figure out.

Honestly I feel bad for Trion. Incredible game having what seams to be a hard time.. each patch brings more devastation.. it's saddening more then anything.

As much **** as I give Trion, I am an ardent supporter of this game. My patience has always been thin, since I know for an absolute certainty they can do better (Rift).

However, I take a perverse joy in putting on my best willy wonka face during this sort of episode-- no matter which game I'm playing. This is when I truly shine.

But seriously, I have never seen something like this in any other game... Anyone ever logged in an MMO and most players had magically gained 10 levels or recieved/lost new/learned spells LOL ? Wtf is this **** haha ?

I mean.. if there weren't basic problems for an MMO (such as client security and database stability) I'd be much less annoyed, but with failures of this level, I'm starting to doubt the capabilities of Trion here. Hell, Rift's first event really soured me to their service (but I was semi-okay since it was their first MMO and first event.) That excuse doesn't work here.

@Avelya I made the comment because in all the years I've played there is always someone in there saying they're one. Not saying that they don't exist but (well for certain ones on that list) using them as an excuse for what they say is... hmm well there just is no nice way of saying this, sorry forum mods, it's being a dbag (of course minus the female who may just really be a male and if so then said offer to show moobs (that's man boobs for the newbies) may of course backfire)
