Well, it sounds like you might might have to uninstall the other version before it would let you install another. Do you really want to do another download if you don't have to?
I'd check out what I quoted from B5GkarNarn before doing that.
*edit*on the PS3 XMB, in Transaction Management's folder named Services - I see that the Deluxe Edition Upgrade is listed there
I would also worry that PS3 users' appear to be 'region locked'. If you download and install from US PSN, you may be only able to play on US servers.

Yes, I'm also afraid for that. I have looked in the transaction management, but no delux edition there.. I find it hard to believe that i can upgrade for free, but in de usa store you have to pay $40,-
Probably your problem right here. You CAN'T upgrade for free. If the Delux isn't in your Services folder then you don't have it. Have you already linked your game to your account here?

Well, my guess is to delete the Defiance game data and go to your account management and check your transaction history. If you bought the version you think you did it will be in there. Download it again (yeah it sucks!) and it might work.
I'm having difficulty believing you got the Delux Upgrade for free. Something about that doesn't make sense.
I just installed the deluxe edition too. And when i click on redeem code and exit out of there immediately it says that there is a transaction currently pending, so i gues you will have to wait for a bit.
