    Really depends on the game and company. Many do have a lot of restrictions or do tend to screw you out of being able to compete with others due to things like paid gear or paid upgrades to gear, but there are a few out there that actually can be played as F2P without any real restrictions.

    DDO for example. Yes you will start out with restrictions on a new account, however through playing the game you can constantly earn Favor, which progressively earns you cash shop credits as well, allowing yout o over time unlock pretty much anything that a paying player has access to. Its just a matter of preferring to buy it all and save time, keep it free but require much more play time to unlock it all, or a mix of both with buy a little earn a little.

    Also used to play an F2P called Rohan. Initially it started out pretty heavily P2W, since you were able to buy upgraders for equipment that did things like increase your chances of success and /or prevent the items from being destroyed or losing stats upon failure. However something like 1-2 months into the game they introduced the Exchange Market. Although it costs $5 to setup an account for the Exchange Market itself, after that $5 you had the ability to trade any items, including gold, as well as entire characters with other players. It worked just like a normal auction house. From the in-game UI you could access the market and select items / gold in your inventory to sell, or choose to put your entire character up for sale (note: these were naked characters, no gear exchanged in the trade, basically just buying a character for its level). All of this was done for cash shop credits. So any player who paid $5 to gain access to the market could then continue playing 100% free by either selling good loot drops, upgrading equipment with a bit of luck and then selling it for lots, farming gold and selling it, or just grinding out levels (usually getting power leveled with friends) and then selling the character to people who didnt want to grind, then turning around and using th cash shop credits from the sale to buy stuff from the cash shop or other things for sale on the market. It was actually quite similar to GW2s auction house, with the ability to sell stuff for diamonds and then buy cash shop stuff with the diamonds.

    @OP,

    Yes, $60 is a lot of money, especially since trion's track record is crap right now but that's another story..., and the game is filled with more bugs than an entomologist's wet dream. I think you should just tell your friends to wait a bit until the price falls. I'm sure that in 6 months or so, it's will be reduced by more than half.

    Perhaps the OP isn't wrong in his mind. Perhaps he is just having a "streams of consciousness" moment. Perhaps he's high on crack or perhaps he's an alien. Who the hell really knows. What I do know is that I tl;dr'd his epistle and thought, what bit I did scan, was amusing

    The problem with you ppl here is that you take all this crap all too seriously. *rolls eyes*
